OT somewhat - why do noobs get bashed? JMO
I've been reading NR for the better part of a year now, and a somewhat active participant over the past six months. Each day, we all see a couple of messages from people interested in having us spoonfeed them information on how to get into the business. Invariably, that person will get one or two serious answers - we've all done it. That person will get some snarky answers - those of us who've done it, we know who we are. (Maybe I haven't, but I've sure hit CANCEL on enough snarky responses to that question, so I include myself, for better or worse.) After the rude response, somebody will always ask why you have to be so rude, they're just starting out, etc.
o Well.... The big Orange Search button is there for a reason. Heck, there's a big lightbulb over the ENTER YOUR MESSAGE HERE box that even has a hyperlink to the Search function. Do these people just stumble onto NR and post a question before they even have READ the forum at all? I don't know about most of you, but I usually check out a forum before I take the time to join it and start posting. Like I said, that same question is posted twice a day, so if the new person had taken five minutes to read the website, they would have their answer.
o If you're thinking about going into business for yourself, and the first thing that you do is go to a virtual street corner and yell, "How do I get started? or better (or worse) yet, "HOW DO I GET STARTED?" then going into business for yourself isn't for you. Same deal with questions that could be dealt with by opening your notary reference manual, clicking on your governor's reference guide, etc.
o At the end of the day, unless/until you have that established relationship with your signing service, title co, etc, they're going to send their business to the newbie who accepts the $50 assignment. That sure doesn't endear that new person to me.
So, why do newbies who ask the same question over and over again get bashed? Looking at the above statements, its a normal human reaction..........
