O/T Membership upgrade pricing

I was going to upgrade my membership to Premier and noticed it went from $59 to $79 since I last checked. Furhter reading indicated that a sliding scale is used to determine upgrade fees.

I am disappointed. Iwas looking forward to finally upgrading but can't justify it now. I am semi-retired and my budget is sometimes tight. Needs, wants, and would like to have must be put into proper stacks. My upgrade status was moved to a new stack, but now it might just have to be forever put aside. Guess I'll have to settle for remaining "Basic".

Harry is running a business, it is a write off for you and there are some expenses in running a business, if he increases $20 bucks, good for him. I think you should talk to harry about privately, why complain about him on his own board? I big nervey if you ask me.

I'm too cheap to go premier and I still get calls.

I think you misinerrupted my post completely.

I am not complaining to or about Harry at all. It may NOT be a write-off me, depends on how one files taxes. Yes, Harry is running a business, that has nothing to do with the post either. If anything, my question is why a sliding scale and not just a simple upgrade fee.

I'd say be thankful it's only $79. I would have to pay $139 to upgrade to premier. At $79 I could be easily swayed.

Yea, I know.
I was just bummed out when I saw that because I wanted to upgrade. Add us all up and I can see plenty of lost business as a result rather than gaining new business as Premier members. I'm content to stay where I am I guess.

If you can scrape the money together, it will be well worth it. I get numerous calls from companies find me on NotRot every week. That $79.00 will be paid for with one signing. I would bet you get many more than one.

So this really helps generate business? What other websites are you signed up with?

because...

you would be the only premiere in your zip code alone is good enough reason to upgrade!
DO IT...you make it back with less than 1 signing.

This is a no-brainer for $20...

This is business, and you have to spend money to make money. You will receive the $20 back manyfold in business opportunities that you might not otherwise get without the Premier listing. Additionally, you should be filing federal taxes for your notary business on a Schedule C form, and it IS deductible as a business expense.

It appears that you are one of only three listed in your zip code. You are listed second. It also appears that there are no Premier members in your area. I still think it is worth it.

But the other side of that coin is...

... that if there are only three listed, there's not a heck of a lot of choices and the searcher will probably try the closest one first.

Just playing devil's advocate here. I paid more than that for my premier membership, and recovered it within a week - it was definitely money well spent. For people in areas where there are only a few notaries, however, there's not as much incentive to upgrade. I would definitely suggest to go ahead and upgrade anyway, but if the budget is tight, the $20 can make a difference.

It's the same thing we're warned against about judging the loans that we're witnessing - you don't know what the financial circumstances are, so you can't make a judgment about whether the loan is "good" or "bad".

One simple saying! In order to "make" money "you" have to "spend" money! You have to reinvest in your business in order for it to be successful! And if you're not out there excepting those ridiculous rates from those scrupulous SS, then you'll almost double that in that first signing you get for being numero uno! Premier has a meaning! And a sliding scale is just something you deal with in life. Call it inflation! If you need gas in your car to get to a signing, you not going to turn it down till gas prices go down to '95 rates are you? I like the sliding scale, because with the saturation of the XXX lately, it seperates the true business men from the boys.

I agree you have to spend money to make money, but some investments don't justify the cost. There are only three of us here because Wyoming is a Very rural state. Only 500,000 people. Therefore opportunities are limited so investments into the business must be selected wisely. I already am a member of the local Chamber, BBB, several other associations, and have a great deal of experience. Believe it or not, a few dollars does make a difference.

I'm not harping or wholly against the sliding scale. I just personally do not see its value. You have one level, Basic, and you have another, Premium. To go from one to the other should be based on a simple fixed rate basis. Through the years as a former senior engineer I belonged to many associations and trade groups; I just never saw a sliding scale applied for upgrading member levels and then have that fee go down to a standard level fee after you pay the higher fee.

Bottom line is I can live were I am and apply the difference I would have paid elsewhere. Harry has an Excellent site and offers a great deal here. I wholly appreciate him for his efforts and his services to us all.
