Rumor debunked

For all those who have long contended that I have no heart, my recent open heart surgery to replace a congenitally defective aortic valve has firmly established that to be false. I not only have one, it's now presumably in better shape -- with the brand new bovine and stainless steel valve -- than it has been for the past 70 years.

And for those who might be contemplating similar surgery, I can only say, you've never coughed after just having your sternum sawed in half. At that point, even the alternative looks good.

Re: glad to see you posting and back in form, Hugh. Best to you

When a man's an empty kettle
He should be on his mettle
And yet I'm torn apart
Just because I'm presumin'
That I could be kind-a human
If I only had a heart.

I'd be tender, I'd be gentle
And awful sentimental
Regarding love and art
I'd be friends with the sparrows
And the boy who shoots the arrows,
If I only had a heart.

Picture me ... a balcony ...
Above a voice sings low--

(BrendaTx) "Wherefore art thou, Romeo?"

I hear a beat.
How sweet!
Just to register emotion.
"Jealousy," "devotion"
And really feel the part
I could stay young and chipper
And I'd lock it with a zipper
If I only had a heart.

well...now we know that Hugh has a heart and it's beating just fine. Take care of yourself Sir Hugh...(and your little dog too!....)

"Doc"

Now when they say you're full of bull and have a cold heart

Seriously, though, it's great to hear you came through so well. Should we all send you bags of cough drops?

After having your sternum sawed in half, you are not.....

supposed to lift anything over 10 Pounds for a few months.
For a true Texas man, that could create a serious problem
when you need to go the the bathroom
Have a speedy recovery.

Three truths I learned during my 12 days in the hospital:

1. Nurses are a lot faster on their feet than they were 50 years ago;

2. Having a perky 22-year-old help you pee is definitely not an erotic experience; and

3. Given a choice between having an RN daughter or a platinum blonde girlfriend take care of you, go with the girlfriend. She'll be far less clinical and far more sympathetic to your pain.

My wifes ex boss just had a HEART TRANSPLANTATION in December, and he is going back to work by mid March. He is 60 and now has a 38 year old heart! He is a DDS.
