What happened to me today
I had a signing today. Docs went to borrower was emailed title docs. When I got there there was already someone there doing the signing. I told her I had the hud she said she didn't have one. I gave it to her and left. Part of me thought I should have not done that. But, I had given it to her in front of the borrowers. When I called the signing service they said they had not sent anyone else out. I should not have had given it to her. I think someone else there had sent her out if she charged less.Because when signing agency first called they said they were going to check on fee first. Did I do wrong leaving the hud? I think if I had not left it signing service would have gotten upset with me also.

Wow.. I had similiar situation happen to me not once, but twice. I called the company that hired me & told them what had happened. BUT... since YOU had the HUD, if I were you, I would have gone outside & called the company that hired you and not handed over the HUD until someone could tell you what you to do. Tha's just my humble opinion.

Happened to me too. Being the nice guy that I am (smile) I handed over what I had sine the other signer had just started (without all the docs of course). I was paid full fee for the signing.

Now thinking back I should have gone outside and called.
The signing was already into half an hour. I wasn't late it was that I was waiting for the hud.
That other signing agent shouldn't have been conducting closing without a hud.

Doesn't make sense that the SS would assign another notary and then send you the HUD - but strange things happen when you're working under a deadline.
I would have asked the other notary who sent her, and then called the signing service with that information and asked them what they wanted me to do. I don't think you were wrong to hand over the HUD - the borrowers shouldn't have to pay the price for someone else's mistake - but I would definitely have checked with the signing service before I left.
And I would expect to get paid in full for the assignment.

I agree 100% with Mike. You should get paid in full. n/m

Sounds like the title company shopped the closing to multiple signing services and the settlement agent got their wires crossed and sent the HUD to you. You should have just had the borrowers sign the HUD then send it to title. I would contact the signing service and make sure you are paid in full.
