ETA Mobile Notaries Inc in Orlando, FL :)
A good company to work with, professional, friendly, prompt with e-docs, quick to respond to faxed pages with their receipt. Cover page notes payment at 30 days, 45-day at worst. Didn't see them when I did a search, so wanted to post them.

Oh goodie! They pay a whopping $90-$100 for edocs with a TON of fax-backs. I now know who the new lowballer is in my area. I guess its good money for a hobbyist.
UGH!

You have my sympathy, Becca
After I and other notaries in my area got fees up to a more acceptable $125 average, and it stayed there for a year or so, a notary here is lowballing fees. The other notaries I used to network with and refer work to have quit because they won't accept $100 or less for edocs. I'm hanging in there, and certain companies that know my work, dependability and "can do" attitude are continuing to pay $125 or more, depending on type of closing and where it's located. The other notary has another business, and I suspect that person has not done a real business plan that separates the hours and expenses of the notary work from the other business. A real business plan based on real life calculations would show that after expenses, depreciation of vehicle, allowance for vehicle and equipment repairs and replacement, cost of things like phone and internet and other necessities related to this business, and time expended on calls, faxes, downloads, printing, driving, at the table, prepping the return package, etc.......that person's other business is actually partly financing the notary business at those lowball rates. And with gas going up up up, it's going to be worse.

Re: You have my sympathy, Becca
Funny you mention all that. $100 not acceptable, but $125 is....as I read this forum response I have to wonder... as Ducky is not getting paid at all for a job according to her more recent post...hmmm...this equals out to be less than average pay according to any business plan--but those probably don't count. My borrower happened to live 3 streets over, gas wasn't an issue for at this point, total of 212 pages printed, 6 pages faxed, no time really spent on calls, maybe 3 minutes max on my cell, 15 min. printing, 15 minutes sorting, 45 min. at the table (they passed their newborn back and forth, somewhat entertaining in fact) 15 min. prepping return package, 5 minutes faxing (which I have nice 4-in-one HP, cost is barely 5 cents, toll free number) FedEx comes to my office every day, hand him the package. Done. I guess I should have turned it down? I can't help but wonder how many NSA's would have turned this $100 job down, especially if you only had maybe 75 signings under your belt. Give us newbies a little break...that's fair, I think. P.S. Those comments to my post were a little harsh, I knew on NotRot some women (I haven't seen any men throw daggers at someone yet) but I know it's a dog-eat-dog world out there; but let's remember, we can market ourselves at Title Company's, Banks, Mortgage Companies, etc. and the pay is substantially better. One Title Company I do signings for pays minimum $175 per single closing. It really pays to put together a nice resume, and let them know what you can do. Make it look nice, I tend to like the glossy 4"x6" cards and you can add your photo, experience, availability, area of coverage and mention your work style, your personality, whatever assets you have, let them know. If they give you a call, prove yourself, and this builds relationships. I don't think just working for signing companies is enough, at least in my opinion. I'll get off my soap box now. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there! My daughter is 22 now, and oh sometimes I wish she was little again :-)

Re: You have my sympathy, Becca
dionaea, $125 average you say is acceptable, $100 is lowballing...that's a $25 difference, and this is where a NSA says yes to $125 but no to $100 the difference in terms of being a lowballer or a ..... ? the opposite of this I guess. Help me understand this.
I know you mention all the costs, although repetitive on the car repairs and replacements (scratching head on this one) okay, but where I am very confused is the part about a real business plan that you suspect I haven't done....what? Explain to me what you know about my business, or suspect, because you lost me there...

I read your response again....I am finding it difficult to understand why you would write something like this? Do you not know that everyone, including signing companies(!) could see what you write....seems to me that this in itself would hurt you more than me taking a $100 job, (which was in walking distance to my house) and because I was only writing to compliment a company for their professionalism, efficiency and friendly working style, in case others wanted to know if they pay (at least they pay) which I fortunately have never had to be in a position where I worked for free. Advice? Don't call anyone a "lowballer" on Notrot, it's just not good etiquette and not becoming of your personality.
