E-fax or Fax machine

Is there any way you can figure out whether you are faxing to an e-fax or a fax machine without asking the people you are faxing to?

Denise, edocs are simply......

pdf files that are attached to an e-mail. You don't have to sign up for anything. Pdf files are opened with Adobe reader software which you then print. Since you posted here you have a computer with an internet connection, so you are all set to go. If you don't have Adobe reader software already on your computer, you can download everywhere for free. Good luck.

Larry, Thank you so much! I really appreciated your reply. I have seen quite a few of your replies and I am learing a lot. Wish me luck in being able to sign up with some agencies and making some $$.

Neecy, I am going to be blunt (this isn't meant to hurt your feelings) . . .

You don't need luck, you need a good business plan. And from your few posts, including the one above, you do not have that. BEFORE you start to practice on people's loans, know what you are doing. IF you don't know that you need a laser printer, then we must question you about what else don't you know. This is a business and you need to treat it as such.

Do you know how much to charge to make a profit from each loan signing? Do you know the documents well enough to explain them to a borrower or even find answers to their basic questions? Do you even know what kind of questions you can and can not answer? Do you know what equipment to buy? Do you know where and how to market and the time involved? Do you have financial reserves to cover you for the 2 years (give or take) that it will take to build a successful business? Etc., etc., etc.

"Good luck" with signing up with some agencies and making some $$. At this point you might be better off going to work for a fast food restaurant. They are always looking for some good employees. It takes an entrepreneur to run a business.

Not only PDF ...

Though PDF is the most commonly used format for sending packages via email, there are many other formats and methods for edocs.

Some companies use SwiftView, eLynx, GMD, etc. Some companies also have their own document storage sites (e-warehouses) where you have to log in and download the docs. All of this is considered edocs.

Equipment needed for handling edocs: Laser printer that supports of PCL5e or PCL6. Email capability to receive email attachments up to at least 10Mb. Fax machine/service capable of sending/receiving faxed documents of legal size.

Look at the CSID of the machine you are faxing to, if your fax machine shows it. Sometimes it will say something like EFAX, VIA FAX, CallWave, K7, etc. Those are popular e-fax systems. Other than that, probably not. But what difference does it make?

Thanks Paw, I have a reaaly good HP inkjet printer, but it sounds like I need to invest in a laser printer. Any suggestions?

If you plan on printing out loan docs, a laser printer is a MUST not an option. Inkjet is NOT acceptible for loan docs.
