Filing theft of services

I have seen that phrase a couple of times today.
Will someone who has done this, enlighten me as to how, and who to file these charges with, if I can?

The law may differ from state to state. In NJ if payment is not sent when agreed on, you can file right away.

I send 3 statements, certified letter with drop dead date then file. Only once has it gone that far. Once it goes to court and the company is a no show a warrant is issued and the Local PD is alerted.

Thank you for that information.....I have 2 companies that I'd like to place that charge on but have been having a hard time finding that information in my state laws. This will give me a starting point....gee, if I file do you think I'll be blamed for putting them out of business????

You may want to check out F.S.A. 812.155 - Hiring, leasing, or obtaining personal property or equipment with the intent to defraud; failing to return hired or leased personal property or equipment; rules of evidence. and F.S.A. 812.012 - Definitions that defines exactly what "property" is, which does include services.

You can view the Florida Statutes at the FL Senate website. Click here for direct access to Chapter 812: http://tinyurl.com/3chc88

This is very good information to have. I bet these people will start paying up if this is thrown on them.

Does anyone know about the state of Colorado laws in regards to this? Does filing a charge relate to state only or do they relate to out of state? And, where would I go to begin asking questions.

I suggest you contact your attorney or your state's Attorney General (http://www.ago.state.co.us/contact_us.cfm) and ask what the procedure is.
