Keep The Info Coming People!
Got a call today asking to do an overnight signing tomorrow in Sunnyvale, CA. Not my usual area, I suggested to the caller that they call someone closer. She stated that everyone she called is not available and she needed to get this signed as borrowers are going on vacation. I quoted her an additional $50.00 fee which she accepted. Started to get all the info then found out which company she was calling from. TILT! They have a bad rep for payments. She told me that they were working on that and are trying to get caught up, companies have folded and not paid her, etc, etc. I told her my New Years resolution was to not deal with companies where I have to chase them for my money, I have my own bills to pay and it's not worth the aggravation.
Moral of the story: 1. Keep up the feedback on the deadbeat companies. 2. Stick to your resolutions. 3. Let companies know why you won't work for them. 4. Value your time and experience and act accordingly. 5. Don't take a wooden nickels!

Don't forget number 6, John!
6. It never hurts to ask for a paypal pre-payment.
That won't always be accommodated, but I have had some minimal success (OK, only 2) with hard-up companies with bad reps pre-paying via paypal.
