OT -- 5% back on gas starting July

just heard from Discover that starting in July gas will be offered at a cashback rate of 5%...for those with Discover cards, you can sign up for their "get more" program. Restaurants are slated for October.

Re: Hey Melissa - Did Gov. Rell

Not that my wallet is aware of...paid 2.93/gal at last fill up (thanks to .10 off per gallon Price Chopper discount!) & prices are climbing. Reported to hit $4.00 by Labor Day...

Re: gas barrels have gone down down down but the pump price

I'm not one to take up for Oil Co.'s, but the cost of producing gas in the summer goes up due to extra additives the oil co's have to add because of the climate. Also, some states require more additives than others, California for instance. And you wonder why the price is always higher on the left coast.

yes in calif we pay a premium but that is not the issue as

they based it inclusive but they just keep raising the price cuz they can

$3.60 in Lincoln City this morning! Paper said they're

blaming the refineries.

So, why is it 25 cents cheaper 40 miles down the highway?

Because they can.

Highest profits in history, but use the $ (filthy lucre) to buy back stock, not upgrade refineries...

Stock Market's happy, the rich don't give a rip, and the working stiff takes it in the tank again.

Oh. I forgot. Don't get me started, I just came in for a beer.

So, belly up to the bar, I'm buyin', and let's talk about ... hyperlinks! Or sports. Or the sun shining for the first time in ages.

Cheers,
Susie

No refineries in Oregon

As you know there is one gas line from Anacortes to Eugene and one coming up from the south, the rest is either trucked or barged in and that of course adds to the cost. There is in Oregon and Washington a high "NIMBY" mentality when it comes to that nasty oil business; therefore we all pay for not having but 2 refineries in Northern Washington.

Also I do find it quite telling when on the news this evening a young lady was lamenting about high gas prices while downing her Grande Starbucks creation. I see also at Freddy's they are selling some premium brand of H2O for $7.99 a case or $2.52 a gallon. What do you reckon the markup on the H2O was? Smile

I guess it comes down to priorities and what the local news wants to hype that evening.

Nope, never have. Still, the ones there are aren't being

maintained. Gas has always been trucked to the coast, but the price disparity has grown disproportionately. And, I don't put water in my tank to do my work, I drink it out of the tap. I bet the markup is 1000 percent, but what's that got to do with gas prices?

Buying gas for me is a high priority, since I drive for a living, and when Big Oil is making record profits off the working stiff's back, well, it just ain't right. It's a much bigger picture than the state of Oregon. JMHO.

Cheers,
Susie

umm..uh...duh..umm..

Famous speech of someone we all know...the "honorable" president of these United States, Mr. Oil Man himself, Georgie Bush.

This is exactly why a democrat will be elected in '08...

Andrew: umm..uh...duh..umm.. Political Discussion? Harry?

**This is exactly why a democrat will be elected in '08...**

It's bound to come as the election of 2008 draws near. Notaries actually do care about who is elected!

Harry, how 'bout that political tab you chatted about with some of us in the Go Live area?

There are some pretty good benefits to having it for the reasons you mentioned, plus...it'll keep the notary tab free from blood and gore.
