OT: Military thoughts
I will be posting closer to the time, but I want everyone to be thinking of what they can do to support our military. The following web site will give you an idea of what to get for someone who says, "Oh, don't get me anything..I have everything I want already." We all have those in our lives. http://www.operationchristmastree.com
My mom is 80, doesn't want a thing, so this is how I will handle this - in her name so she will get mail of appreciation. She will like that..close to her heart too.

This is a great idea. If you would like to do something now, check out this website http://www.soldiersangels.org/ They are involved all year round. This is something near and dear to my heart as I retired from the Navy and have been on deployments. It is very sad to see people who receive no mail or packages. Take care and God bless our soldiers, sailors, airman and marines and their families!

You're very welcome. The Navy was good for me. I truly enjoyed it although things weren't as bad as they are now. It makes me very sad that a lot of people just see Memorial Day as a day for going to the beach and partying....I had friends killed on the Cole and in Iraq and today is a very sad remembering day for me. Please pray for our soldiers, sailors and marines and especially their familes. We just had 3 killed in in a training accident in Fallon from NAS Jax and it's very sad. Take care.

I agree with you.Memorial Day is not for "partying" it is for rememberance. If you see my post earlier today, you will see I always attended a Memorial Day service up to a couple or so years ago. I was sorry when I was unable to make the trip again. But I always think of the military, not only on Memorial Day but throughout the year. I am so sorry for the loss of your friends.
