Steve Skaggs/American First Finance
Beware........they seem to be doing some kind of "bait and switch". Between the two, I am owed over $800. Did a few closings for Steve Skaggs where he contacted me but the follow up (sending me the docs, calling me with instructions, etc) was by Chantel Astengo at American First Finance.
Chantel later called me and said they'd pay me but couldn't pay me for what they had already paid Steve on. Went out on two jobs for her directly plus she had me run some docs to a borrower and agreed to a trip fee on two different occassions. Still no pay and she has since called me for a third. I told her thanks, but no.
I am starting to get gun shy! I feel that the title companies give me less problems for payment.
Another company, American Mortgage Specialists (JinJu Cho) who calls me for closings. I am now $800 in the hole to them (same borrower, multiple closings, three different days). However, you are required to send the invoice to Valley Notary Service (attn JinJu Cho) in Arizona. No payment yet and the first closing was April 12th! May not be a problem, but because of the above situation, I am sweating it!
Any comments on these companies? I have done the search but must be doing something wrong because I know I have seen Steve's name appear here and yet the search isn't pulling anything.

Mysti, I can tell you that the AMS co is using Fidelty title for title work. Call some one by the name od Tim Yokley, he is the branch manager for the Fidelty Co. AMS is a real peice of work of a company.
I had to fight for almost 6 months with Fidelty Title to get paid. AMS owns vally wide notary service.

Thank you Mr. Negrete.
Yes, I located the information regarding Fidelity in the docs they sent me. I'm not much of a fighter, but I will work on this. There are still several loans that have to be closed for this same borrower so hopefully, that will give me leverage as well, although it might not.
Because her explanation was that they pay at the end of this month for all work done in April, I will wait the beginning of June to see if payment arrives.
I believe I should cut my losses though. Since the borrower was hoping to complete the rest of the loans this next week, they may very well be calling for those. If they do, I think I'll just turn them down.
Thank you again for your response!
