Terrible communication

For real, fellow notaries, throw in the towel after you can tell someone's head is not on straight.

Thurs. - Signing scheduled (UDX) for 9:15pm - waiting, waiting, calling, no docs.

Fri. - Documents come in morning for (rescheduled) 5pm signing. Servicelink calls and tells me about faxbacks, waiting to ship, etc. At signing, Borrowers surprised, angry (nobody available to ask questions, not even LO) and cancel at table. (UDX agrees to 1/2 fee)

Monday - ring, ring, Servicelink - "Did BO cancel?" Me - "yes, I told UDX" Servicelink - "can you go back tonight at 5?" Me - "yes" So I print docs and call borrowers and they told LO they wanted to sign Tues. specifically. Me (already reprinted and Tues not good, I have to get a babysitter, but fine whatever)

Tues - look over docs and see the same things they were complaining about. I call up UDX and they can't guarantee full fee because Servicelink won't give them full fee, they tell me to call Servicelink.

So I call and the lady says, "you're getting full fee twice because we pay them the full fee twice, but you have to go through them to get your fee". (She sent me the invoice to pay UDX in my confirmation - which only confirms her confusion)

Okay, I might have been a sucker a year ago, but now I'm not now. I am at the point where I will just do this signing as a courtesy for the borrowers (because they seem to be ok with the docs now and I already got a babysitter), but forget the faxbacks or anything else.

So the lady at Servicelink doesn't know what the problem is, according to her I am getting my full fee, but the guy at UDX says if it cancels I won't.

Should I even bother calling to say I won't faxback?

I cancelled. I thought about it for a minute, if I still signed, I wouldn't be just doing a courtesy to the borrowers, I'd be letting people get away with stupid stuff. Thanks for making me tough, NR!

I'm curious. How much is "full fee" at ServiceLink these days. I used to get VA loan signings from them 7 years ago.

I went to a borrowers home twice and Service Link said I would get my full fee even though they cancelled at the table. Both were also edocs. They called a third time wanting me to go again. I politely said I was already booked for that time. Got my check for the month and I was not paid for those two appointments. They crossed out my fee and wrote cancelled for those. The least they could have done is given me my print fee. I will get something out of this. I dont let stuff slip by that easy.

Thanks for letting me know. Someone named Jennifer said I would get my full fee even though it cancelled, but then she said I had to go through UDX (who contracted me) and they only wanted to pay me 1/2. I would have gone to the signing with a chance that they'd cancel again and I'd get a whoppin $50 (1/2 my fee). Not a chance.
