Why can't SS treat us like humans?
I need to rant. Last night at almost 8 PM my time I got a call from American Title in the midwest, they have a closing 2 hills over from me, must happen 1 PM today, and they are offering $60. I countered with a higher figure and she said, no problem. She would send the e-mail right away. She confirmed my e-mail address and it all sounded good.
Signing was supposed to happen 10 minutes ago and I STILL don't have the e-mail from them. How am I supposed to have gone to this signing?
When I get a call from a SS and I can't do the signing, I have the courtesy to call them back and let them know. Is it too difficult for them to do the same when they have lined up someone and then managed to low-ball it???
I know they found someone who could meet their fee, which is fine, but a little courtesy would have been appreciated. I am half tempted to call them back and let them know that I could not make the signing, but I am not going to waste my time on this one ... nor with them again. Treat me like you want me to treat you or don't expect me to work with you.
Thanks for allowing me the space to rant!

Hi Barbara~
First thing you've got to keep in perspective is you're running a business and don't take things personal. Happens all the time, if I don't have the confirmation within 20 minutes I move on, block of time is still open. I never turn down a thing while waiting on confirmations, live and learn and don't take it to heart.

Sue, thanks. I really didn't want to do it anyway, which is why I went up with the fee, but for them to have no courtesy at all was ridiculous.
I'm just getting started, so I tend to read a lot and not post much to this board ... learning from others' experiences, but this was the first time this has happened to me.
Ah well, on to bigger and better things ... like cleaning out my workroom for my miscellaneous projects!

For future reference
1. If you're not at a computer, ask for the borrowers phone # up front so you can make contact right away instead of waiting to get back. This kinda secure the job.
2. If you're at the computer, ask long will it be before you see the confirmation. If I don't see a confirmation within the time frame promised then I move on to other thing.

don't forget the rule about assuming ...
I always check in case they DID send an e-mail and I just didn't receive it, maybe a typo in the e-mail address or they THOUGHT they sent it, but didn't. 'Stuff' happens, as they say - EOM especially. The phone call to check back is just another opportunity to speak to a potential client and build that relationship - and sometimes saves everyone from the consequences of assuming wrong. =)

And don't forget to check your spam folder
I have had confirmations go into my spam folder and thought they forgot about me!
