Worst signing ever...
The Bo was great the location was not an issue....
On the way there I saw an elderly man being loaded into the ambulance on a back board. He had tried to cross the street (Hiway) on his bike but didn't make it in time. Five miles down the road and one mile from the location of the signing a young Marine on a motorcycle rear ended a van that had stopped to turn..... He was airlifted out as I was signing the Bo....
As we were finishing up the package we heard an unusual noice and saw people outside moving quickly. As we looked out the window we were shocked to see yet another Marine on a motorcycle that had hit the back of a truck. He too was transported by ambulance....
Please be careful this weekend.....

Raimond,
I'm sorry you had to witness that today. The roads were terrible down here today. I can't remember seeing so many vehicles on both I-95 and the Turnpike. I was nearly taken out of the race tonight when a two cars in the median decided to get back in the race and pulled out if font of me when I was doing 70 mph. I looked to the right, saw the Semi and prayed I had enough room to swerve to right to miss the MoMos. I let out a yelp, did it and made it back in the left lane without incident. I was really lucky.

Chris, I don't know where in Florida you reside, but
the 1/2 my stretch of Okeechobee Road between the Turnpike and I-95 was a parking lot when I went through @ 4:20pm today. Glad I decided to take the back roads home. I even took the back roads home tonight from Palm Bay. I guess I should have stayed on them in Sebastian instead of getting on I-95...I could have averted that scare I had. But NO, I had to have a Steak n Shake Chicken Salad tonight...McDonalds was not good enough. Oh well, It's done.
I'm having second thoughts about our planned motorcycle ride to Lake O tomorrow. I wish the wind would die down so we could go sailing instead.

Steak 'n Shake?
YUM! I wish we had those out here! Though we do have In-n-Out Burger, which is pretty good, I love it when I travel east and there are Steak 'n Shakes. I even got one of their hats for my pet sitter since she didn't believe me that the chain really exists.
Have an order of cheese fries for me!

I wish
we had lots of things out here. Jack in the Box, in n out, del taco, el pollo loco and carl's jr. But we don't and it stinks. We eat out a lot less. Oh yeah and Lamppost Pizza!

I live in a fairly rural part of Northwest New Jersey and came upon an accident last night that was just being cleaned up. A minivan and a motorcycle got into a tangle on a sharp curve. Judging by the amount of blood on the road (which was SHOCKING to see) I can only imagine the fate of the motorcyclist. So many more people are riding bikes these days - what a shame there are that many more accidents with motorcycles.
Hope everyone has a SAFE and happy Memorial Day! Enjoy a day or two off!

Wow Raimond, I am sorry you saw all that. Kind of scary that we don't often realize that there may not be a tomorrow. Take care everyone this weekend. Be safe and relax!

Due to the rising cost of gas, I think the # of motorcycles on the road are going to keep increasing. It used to cost us 5.00 to fill our bike, the other day is was 19.00. Still cheaper than any of our vehicles though. I was coming back over the mtn yesterday and it was raining at the top, when I started on the downside, some idiot thought that 70 in a 65 wasn't fast enough and tried to pass me, he hit water and hydroplaned right into me, almost took me over the edge. Ended with cuts/bruises and a minor head injury when I hit the driver side door window. So now I'm home again, and I think I'm going for some R and R at a campground! For those of us on 4 wheels, bikers know they are hard to see, we do everything we can to increase our visibility, but it doesn't always work. I have a bumper sticker on all my cars that says: "Look Twice, Save a life. Motorcycles are everywhere." It's a really ugly bumper sticker, bright yellow, but if it causes just one person to take a minute to doublecheck, it's worth it. If you do ride, ride, ride defensively, no tailgaiting and no "superman antics" Bikes don't give you a lot of room for mistakes. Have a great weekend everyone. Take a minute to remember our Fallen Heros.
