fees
I read the statute in NV and it states that a notary can only charge 5.00 per signature and 2.50 for each additional. » How is it that title companies can pay a notary 150-250 per signing? is this legal?

Simple.....
you get paid for traveling (hence, "mobile notary", and giving up your time.
Not all notaries public are experts in loan documents; therefore, the notary may also charge for his or her time.

Yes, it's legal. You are charging for other services. Travel, printing, courier fees.

Plus, how many documents actually get notarized out of a package often over 100 pages? It might only be one. The actual notarizing is just a critical but small *part* of what we are paid for.

Do NOT attempt a loan signing ...
... just on the basis of being a Notary Public! There are courses out there (The Signing Registry comes to mind immediately) that HELP to prepare the already-commissioned Notary for the responsibilities of being a Notary Signing Agent.
Most of the people who Post here are Notary Signing Agents, new or experienced. If you are a Notary Public who is considering becoming a NSA, please take to heart all the warnings (low fees, slow paying [and non-paying!] companies, cancelled appointments, etc.) that you'll see here. Consider the investment in training, time, equipment, and advertising that you'll have to expend, and see how many NSAs are within driving distance of you BEFORE you jump in.
Good luck!
