Re: Dawn Re: Cell Phone Recommendations
I have the Blackberry 8830. I decided to with this over the Pearl mostly in part due to a close personal friend of mine who happens to own his own limo service who was having a problem with the Peral. Here in NY it seems they are not good. Well, at least in my area anyway. He went through 3 Pearls and got tired of it and finally demanded a better model. He ended up with the BlackBerry Curve.
My 8830 is great and has not let me down. With these types of phone though it seems having the web feature is necessary especially since they"re geared mostly for business use. Again, I like mine and it is great. All my e-mails that have signing confirmation attachments open up with this phone. Also I synched it with my Laptop and Palm T/X tranferrring all the data between them. Not a problem so far. Do your research before jumping into any phone that uses PDA features.

Dawn, try different phones before deciding - I did
My carrier is Verizon, which is the one that has the best coverage here for remote areas...although that's not saying much. My old cell phone that I lost was great, but the reception capability has changed a lot over the past several years, and not to the good. Anyway, I was pretty unhappy with the choices, but the service rep I hooked up with was willing to take the time and effort to work with me AND explain my options. He explained that I could try any phone to see if it fit my needs. If not, I could bring it back within 30 days and get a different one to try. So that's what I did - I tried 3 different phones, none provided decent reception in rural areas, and I took each one back. Then the rep recommended a V-Cast GzOne Type-V, and I tried that. Well, I love it and highly recommend it. The one I got is the older model, grey. I don't know how the newer model would be. Some stores still have the older model in stock, or they might be able to get one for you, or you could try eBay or a secondary-market seller. The older model is a flip phone, water-resistant, shock resistant, heavy and sturdy, gets at least one bar in most of the rural areas I travel, has a built-in flashlight, and feels comforable in the palm of your hand.

Thanks
I have AT&T and I believe they offer the same 30 day thing that Verizon does. I have been eligible for an upgrade since July but just didnt know what way I wanted to go. I really like the idea of a palm pilot kind of phone - even if I am not doing a closing, I am out and about a lot - especially with the upcoming holidays. I have to do a package drop this morning, so I will be at the Mall when the stores open. Thanks again for the input!
