Certified Death Cert. Question

Im doing a closing tomorrow and I am supposed to obtain a cert. death cert. BO says he doesn't have any more cert copies. I can't certify the copy can I? I belive the issuing govt office has to cerify it. Am I correct?

Yep, you are right. He can get another copy; time may not be on his side, tho'. Not your problem as you can't do it.

NY notary law says:

A copy of a public record signed and certified as a true copy by the public official having custody of the original. A notary public has no authority to issue certified copies. Notaries must not certify to the authenticity of legal documents and other papers required to be filed with foreign consular officers. Within this prohibition are certificates of the following type:

NY law says you can't certify a copy. You can take an affidavit from the BO if the lender will allow it, but if they need an actual certified copy, the BO must provide it.
