Do we really have their full support?

Milagros, in a previous topic you said:

>> It feels great to have a title and be back up by an organization with a solid reputation and well established like the NNA. <<

With all due respect, one of the issues that I have with regards to what you say about the NNA backing you is that, they made a recommendation a while ago that Certified signing agents receive $65 as a base fee. (laughter from the signing service gallery)

Why then doesn't the NNA step up and do something to enforce these recommendations that they make? Why are so many companies thumbing their nose at the NNA recommendations and paying signing agents $50, no many how many degrees and certifications they have? And some are even daring to offer $40. The sad thing is that, they're getting away with it.

If they really want to do something to improve the Notary Signing Agent profession, then they should do something to raise fees. Not their fees. Ours.

If I had a choice between types of paper to receive, I would take a bigger paycheck over a certificate anyday.

Good luck.

Sincerely.

Can I get an amen?

Well said, Leon.
I think you speak for many of us when you wrote that.

Is NNA resting on reputation they think they have?

Many months ago I contacted NNA and asked when they would be adjusting the recommended fees to reflect increased costs since they were first posted (years ago and at least one NNA fee increase since). The NNA “hotline” was called initially for this question in July. The representative said that the "recommended fees" were simply minimums for the NEW "NNA Certified and Non-Certified" person that was just starting out. That once they gained experience, they would receive substantially higher fees. The person agreed though that expenses have gone up and I should submit the question in writing following the website rules to ask why the recommended minimum was not increased and did so on 7/24/07. An acknowledgment was received regarding the question and promise for a response within 24 hours. Still waiting...

And, sadly, the NNA

cannot certify attitude, professional image, or any of the other traits that --in addition to knowledge-- are required to be successfully self-employed. Would a borrower want this person in their home?

Re: And, sadly, the NNA

If we could figure out an effective way to boycott NNA I bet they would become more of an advocate for signing agents. Just a thought.

Re: And, sadly, the NNA

You boycott them by not joining in the first place or by letting your membership lapse if you have one Money speaks louder then words in this situation.

Re: And, sadly, the NNA

Many of us left them years ago. It will have no effect because their efforts are more focused on recruiting new members - and we all know there is another sucker born every minute. (Thank you Milagros for proving my point. Sorry, hon...) They have shown time and again (imho) that their true interests are anything but looking out for notaries/NSAs. The comment from Vince/KS is just one of many examples that have been posted here over the years.

BTW, no company will care a whit about the fact that our costs are going up. The fees they are willing to pay -- and can get away with paying -- are a direct result of good old supply and demand: in most areas, volume of loans is way down and number of would-be signers is way up.

Listen to Leon, Miracle.

This gal's attitude toward Sylvia and the NNA has me so bumfuzzled I can't even post...craziest stuff I have ever heard. Reminds me of Alice falling down the rabbit's hole.

That's a pretty good word to describe the state of mind one would be in after reading this thread, eh?

Reading the other thread...the long one from Miracle in CT about the thrill and honor (not) of being a member of the XYZ.

I'm pretty discomfusulated myself.

Sorry, I thought we were making up words until I actually looked up bumfuzzled. Southern girls sure do have a way with their vernacular.

I don't even know where to start with our little Miracle (but it's a miracle she has been hit by a bus yet). Alas, I believe any effort to edjumacate her will be futile.
