Go UPS... 2 lost deals today

I hate UPS when it comes to Saturday service, 2 loans for today and the package was somewhere in Northern NJ as of noon. Plus finding someone @ the TC for help is a laugh.

I'm sure it will be re-scheduled for Monday or Tuesday. Oh well waste of my time and no money for it today.

UPS doesn't deliver in my area on Saturday. Never has. I can't name you any areas that they do . Just for the heck of it, before I began this posting, I tried several large meto areas on their website and Saturday service was not available. First question I ask when it is overnight docs is how they are shipping it. I always tell the person that hires me under this circumstance that only Fedex delevers in my area on Saturday. This has avoided any issues. In a few cases, they took me up on my edoc offer ......

I take that back

I did find some areas for Saturday delivery, but they seem to be close to a major airport. So the bottom line is you need to be familiar with your area and who delivers what where ....

They deliver in my area

North of Detroit on a Saturday, but only if the package is marked "Saturday Delivery" (which costs more)

UPS does have Saturday drop off by me

But the service is hit or miss, Fed Ex is much better and I have advised my clients in the past about it.

I can go into the one TC's system and if they post the closing package I can print it. No such luck with the one and the other was a no go both sets of UPS docs will hit my home on Monday.

Oh well.. Guess I'll have something to do this Monday night.

Re: UPS does have Saturday drop off by me

It would be great if all companies used Fedex. I have never had a positive experience with UPS with loan signings. Biggest problem was they kept billing me each month for docs that were paid to be paid by TC and SS. I finally canceled my account my account because it was taking me an hour or two each month to get my bill corrected. Also, their legal size envelopes are hard to get a large loan package in and difficult to find. Never seem to have any problem with Fedex. DHL is a real pain.

Re: UPS does have Saturday drop off by me

UPS has Saturday delivery here also, but there's not telling when the package will arrive.

Saturday dropoffs are interesting. I happen to be lucky because both UPS and FedEx have offices that are relatively close to me, so I can always drop a package at FedEx (which doesn't pick up drop boxes on Saturday). The UPS office is closed on Saturday, but they pick up overnight envelopes at the local UPS store on Saturdays (although they don't really advertise the fact - had to call the store to make sure it wasn't only during the holiday periods, as listed on their website).

Both services are kind of spotty with delivery, but in my area UPS tends to be more reliable. I've had FedEx Priority delivered at 5 PM - the promised 10:30 AM delivery seems to be more of a suggestion than a guarantee (but if you call them with the tracking number, they'll contact the driver and find out what's going on).

DHL is a real adventure - you never know what you're going to get. Their corporate structure seems to be way too laid back for a delivery service. In this area, the UPS and FedEx offices have several people at the counter to handle incoming shipments; DHL has one person at the counter, and you may have to ring a bell - several times - to get their attention. How they stay in business is beyond me...
