LIA Signing, Inc
Yes I checked the ratings on this company, but thought I would take a change. Soooo much for that. I traveled 60 miles, printed docs, spent an hour with the borrower, who talked to the LO, and did not sign. The reason he did not sign was because the terms were not what the LO had previously told him. I received a check today 120 days later for $25.00

I too, received a check for $25 today for a signing completed on Sept. 8 after traveling 60 miles and spending an hour. I have responded as to where the rest of the money is as I completed all requirements.

I guess we should start a club for those that were under paid. I too received a check today for $25.00 for a signing on 9-10. I had to hound them to get this check. I emailed and called we'll see if they respond. Last time they didn't respond they just sent this check. I hardly ever had to make a collection call but since August there has been way too much of it.

May I just ask: What are they doing? making short pay settlements? I received a check for an assignment on September 27; original invoice : 125.00 payment: $50.00
Sounds like they are making some kind of settlement pay?

I cant keep quiet
Read, read, and read, this company has been discussed on here a lot. Do a search and you will see. I believe the last posting was in reference to them cleaning up their act, but by what you all have posted, they have not. Good luck everyone. These days if you dont search before you take a signing the risk of not getting paid is real high.

Re: I cant keep quiet
I can't understand signing agents who "take a chance" when a company has so many negative posts. I can see taking a chance if there are only a couple of negative posts balanced with some positive posts.

Also, whenever taking a chance with a company, it's best to keep it very close to home so you don't have the gas expense and travel time invested.

No kidding Sylvia
I don't think I've ever seen anything positive about Lia on this board. What is the point of looking up these companies if you're going to ignore everything you read and "take a chance"?
I have zero sympathy for these people.

All I can add to this sad litany is: they don't have a bad rep for nothing. In these slow times, I'm a believer. I'd rather sit home & wait for a decent call than 'take a chance' and have to spend still more time trying to get paid correctly. Too much of this going on now.

Re: Amen Lee!
I did less signings last month but I have to say it was one of the least stressful months Ive ever had. I worked only for companies I know pay and pay in a decent time frame. All of them are gems to work for, no hand holding. I would rather stay at this rate and build my business from here than go thru the hassle of chasing payment.

Too much of this going on now
Amen, Lee. Problem is, this company has been performing this way since their inception 2 years ago. I don't know why people think that a signing agency is a good business...for most it isn't, as many of us can attest to. The good ones are few and far between, and even the good ones seem to be losing their business these days. A sign of the times, for sure.

Re: Too much of this going on now
I am glad I refused a signing by them 2 month ago. Also, you are so right Mistarella. I used to get minimum $150 from some SS's and they always paid and on time. Now, they call me once in a while maybe they find cheaper notaries. I am telling you, this situation is not going to last forever. Eventually is going to be notary's market.

Oh, yes! They are trying to pay less than they did when I started...14 years ago. You can thank the NNA for today's situation.

Notary's market. oh yes, used to be....
Shoot, 3 years ago I was happily working for many SS, and getting paid (mostly) in a timely manner for $100-$125 per appt. TC's were paying an average of $150, and I was listed on the HUD, payment received at funding, or in the case of ON docs, payment was sent with the package, to be cashed when I completed the closing. Oh, yes, it was a notary's market....and I look forward to the day when it returns. I miss those days!
