My son broke my shredder!!!
He actually barely touched it & now the thing has NO power. Called Staples & told to ship it to them. Give me a break, I'm going to be out about $30 just on shipping & pkg.
My 3 yr old must really hate my work. In a short 3 yrs, make it 2 since he was pratically immobile the 1st 10mths, he has also managed to break a fax machine, copier & scanner. I was lucky enough to replace the other things fairly cheap but I am so mad about this because I just got the shredder about 3 mths prior & even purchased the extended wtty, although it doesn't kick in until 1 yr. I try to keep him out of my office, but sometimes its impossible. He's lucky he's so cute!!!

I know exactly how you feel. When my 3 yr old grandson is in my office he is trying to punch every button he can on everything. I unplug the shredder though because I am scared to death he's going to get his fingers caught in it. I've seen this on TV and how fast and devastating that can be to a childs small fingers. Be very careful.

Thanks for the warning. We have a 2 yr old boy who is all fingers and lots of brainwaves on how that works.

There used to be a gadget ...
... that was a metal box that was designed to _lock_ over the plug of a dangerous appliance. (Or the TV that was off limits.) It had a slot for the power cord to enter the box and it kept the plug itself inaccessible.
It was so long ago that I don't remember whether it had a key lock or a combination lock.

Most consumer agencies and financial experts say that extended warranties are a horrible purchase.

You've probably already tried this, but is the bin perfectly aligned under the shredder apparatus? My shredder doesn't operate unless the bin is positioned perfectly.
