Notary Address
Can anyone help me. The law firm I work for needs to find the address of a Notary in Los Angeles County. We haven't been able to get through to the Clerk's office and need the information asap. Thanks in advance.

You'll need to contact the SOS in Sacramento (http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/notary_contacts.htm) to obtain that information. That's who issues the commissions and retains that information for all Notaries regardless of where their oath and bond are on file (Los Angeles).

What I needed was the address of a Notary who had notarized a document. I had his name and commission number. The Secretary of State was able to give me the address.

Rhode Island has a simi-civilized Notary Public policy
The State of Rhode Island publishes the names and addresses of Rhode Island Notaries Public on its Web Site. (That's the civilized part.)
Unfortunately, to become a Rhode Island Notary Public one has to be a Rhode Island voter or admitted to the Rhode Island bar. That's uncivilized, IMHO. Connecticut allows anyone with a regular place of business in Connecticut or who lives in Connecticut to become a Connecticut Notary Public. That's civilized.
