OT: My Rant
I have to share this because it is just sick. My son was going to do this autism zeolite study, a study of a mineral that takes metals out of your body (chelation), but I did some further research and the study coordinator is selling the product (conflict of interest), and it's like an MLM scheme. I went to this website:
http://www.autismstreet.org/weblog/?p=57
and it cited other websites including one that stated "How to acquire or develop products specifically designed for focused niche markets that will fall over themselves to buy from you."
So yeah guys, this is the new market to get into, prey on desperate parents of autistic children by creating a product that supposedly does something and then call it a study (to gain more respect for it), get some doctors involved in the profit-making, OH AND don't forget to mention that it's a study, but the product is currently available for purchase...how convenient.
I knew this was happening with other products, but never heard of it being called a study and getting doctors involved...sick, sneaky people.

Elizabeth, you are lucky if you haven't seen this tactic before. I have a mom in her 70's and she's from back in the day when if it was printed and published, it was the truth...if it came out of Walter Cronkite's mouth, it was gospel. Scams run amok on those who are either desperate for answers or socially engineered to believe in honor.
Bless you and your son. Good for you for being a critical reader.

Brenda, thank you. I've seen the tactic, but am outraged that they could call it a study. Just seems like they can get away with anything...I know it's way OT, but I just had to inform people that this is happening, beware of donating to non-profits for research studies and thoroughly check them out first!
