O/T...Technical Help, Please

I consider myself to be somewhat tech savy - not an expert by any stretch but I do alright. I get up this morning and my wireless adapter has "disappeared" - no problem because I do have a data connect card, although it is slower. My desktop is doing fine which runs through my wireless router. My laptop did automatic updates this morning and things have been strange since. I have been toying with restoring it back to its original state because during the last automatic updates I lost my vista gadets (not a big deal - but I do like the feature). Which leads to my question - can someone recommend an online site for backing up? I googled it and found lots - some free - some not. I want to know if anyone has done this and has a recommendation.

My techie problems continue.....my cell phone - while it didnt exactly die, the keypad no longer works. Luckily for me, I have my son or my hubby's old cell phone from recent upgrades. I hope that if I take my beloved RAZR to the AT&T store that they can retrieve my phone numbers from the phone - like a dummy, none of the important numbers were stored on my sim card.

Isnt technology great? But on the lighter side, I got to "see" my son via the internet over in Kuwait so all isnt bad.

Thanks for any input on the online storage! Worst case, I will just back everything up on to a kazillion cd's.

What not just get an external hard drive and back it up? Depending on what you back up, you could even get away with good size thumb drive.

Michael, you might want to check on the difference between a

commission and a license and make the approprate changes in your profile unless of course Florida has started to license notaries! Good luck in school!

Good call, I always tend to say I am licensed because it's what comes natural to me. It's not exactly a license like my Mortgage license, but I will note and make that change. Thanks Charles! Wink

As Michael said, get a USB Hard drive and use that. As to your original problem, Re-boot with the router turned off, then turn it back on. Vista often looses the wireless connection. Re-booting has always worked for me in the past. (Tomorrow may be a different day, though)

He is right, you may have to re-boot your system to obtain signal again. I know it is complicated but technology these days, it's horrible haha

Thanks for the advise on the external hard drive! I knew there had to be an easier way to keep it simple. I think my brain fried with the updates on my laptop - LOL. I rebooted the laptop but not the desktop where the wireless router is connected. Will do that this morning. I love technology when it is working.
