Question for Texas notaries..........

I did the 2nd part of a split signing in CA. The 1st part was done in TX. On the "Affidavit of Identity" form there is a a notorial section at the bottom with a jurat but right below that is an acknowledgment. The notary in TX filled out BOTH certificates. The way I see the form, I think they're giving the notary the option of picking one of the 2- not both! Am I correct? I attached a loose jurat. Any opinions, comments? Thanks everybody.

Re: Question for Texas notaries..........Both are required

Do them both.

An affidavit requires a jurat.

In order to record an affidavit at the courthouse you need to have an acknowledgment.

That's why you might see two types of certs on one document. They intend to record this one.

Thanks Brenda. I never heard of notarizing a document using both an ack and a jurat for the same doc. At least not in CA anyway. Just seems a little strange is all............

Happens all the time here. Can you see the reason for it?

The Affidavit of Identity can be recorded here with the document to identify the difference between the old name/new name/aka kind of thing.
