Not suprised. They have been on the black list for quite awhile.

If you had only done a search before doing the job
I know it was an emergency but you should still have checked their rep here & then called back & told them to stick it, just like they allegedly do to their notaries.
(This is only based on what I have read here, I have never had any personal dealing w/this co.)

As a rule, I stopped accepting "emergency" closings a while ago. I saw a pattern that those were always the packages that were huge, with a million notarizations, and then you have to fight to get your money. The companies that call at the last minute are usually ones that you don't want to work for. My last emergency appt was for Executive Closing Services - that was the one that clinched it for me!
Of course if my favorite TC called with an emergency closing, I would do it in a heartbeat!

Not surprised
Not surprised you got hosed by the company who's rep is probably worse then SOX or Premier Doc. Solutions. Do a search the next time, you will not only be helping yourself, but will be doing us a service as well.

Re: Not surprised
That was back in June 2006 and I did get paid, but after much hassle. I was lucky, many notaries did not get paid before Executive closed its doors.
I have only been stiffed by one company ever, and that was Southeastern Settlements in SC. I did manage to finally get payment from the lender on that one, though.
Sometimes there is nothing much as far as negative posts about these companies, and then about a week or two after you complete your job for them - BAM - the board starts lighting up about them.

I just don't get it.
The Final Step had negative feedback in 2001.
Keith's board, the old NASA board and I'm sure the Signing Registry and Notary Rotary all had negatives on them yet, here it is, almost 2008 and some of you still took a chance on them. I just don't have any sympathy!!!
