Thought you might want to go to her site and read what she gathered from today (and I'm sure it's just a beginning) and posted on her site from her discussion here today...... alot of pronouns.....maybe you can sort it out.

sorry, I didn't copy/the site name, maybe someone here knows it.

Glad you said that Lee, it locks up my computer 9 times out

10.

I seem to need to hold my mouth just right and click at some magical speed to be able to access it. It's maddening. I can access any other blog on blogspot, but not DC's.

Diane, me too. It takes way too long to load up.

My guess is it's because you're not archiving your blog pages. You've got a year and a half of posts all on one page.

Ahhhh, is that why Diane posts provocative questions here?

So she can get lots of responses that she can distill down and use as fodder for posts and articles on HER site?

raising the bar

We've been chatting about the proposed uniform closing instructions and I can't help but wonder what the heck is going on?

Unless it is the intention of the mortgage and title industry to apply the brakes in a big way and undo the trends of the last decade, these instructions are in La La Land.

Are they serious, I mean, do they really want these procedures or is this some kind of ruse?

You cannot expect to have less than highly trained settlement and signing agents perform to this level of expectations.

These instructions, if you are serious about them, clearly raise the bar in a big way and fly in the face of the trends in the title insurance business to rely on the cheapest most available body at the table or even better, a power of attorney given to a remote closer.

Is the mortgage lending establishment going sane? Am I dreaming?

Re: Ahhhh, is that why Diane po....... I found it...sorry...

Hey, thanks for letting me know it was locking up your computers. I've been trying to figure out why it has been taking so long to load. I've always had it set to archive but Alex you gave me the clue - too many posts showing per page. I checked that setting and BINGO - it was set to show 999 per page. Cut it down to 50 and now it loads right up. THANK YOU.

Did anyone notice that the "raising the bar" post went up on Saturday and we had the big discussion on Sunday? Besides, what problem do you have with these words?

"You cannot expect to have less than highly trained settlement and signing agents perform to this level of expectations.

These instructions, if you are serious about them, clearly raise the bar in a big way and fly in the face of the trends in the title insurance business to rely on the cheapest most available body at the table or even better, a power of attorney given to a remote closer."

Isn't the goal highly trained signing agents working together with highly trained settlement agents?

Wouldn't you rather title companies select signing agents who are highly trained rather than just cheap and available?

Wouldn't you rather title companies use signing agents or settlement agents at the table rather than a remote closer on a computer screen signing on behalf of the borrower using a power of attorney?

I see these proposed uniform closing instructions as a way to stabilize settlement procedures and regain focus on quality. The rules, regulations, and perhaps laws should be updated and if we can get the wording right in these instructions, they can be used as a base for further efforts.

Yes, you can expect that I might refer to these conversations as I thrash out the instructions in my own mind. I intend to continue raising sections for discussion here and on my blogs. Between now and when my comments go to ALTA in January I need to get clarity and talking with people and thinking through issues is my best way to do that.

If you prefer NOT to engage in any threads, don't. I do feel free flowing discussions are worthwhile and hope that you will share your thoughts and opinions.
