$40.00 Signing

I received a call yesterday to do a signing that would be about 20 miles away and when they told me the fee was $40.00 I told them NO THANKS. I quoted my fee and they said they would call me back. Never heard back. But some dumbo took that signing. Does that person realize that at $50.00 you a making less than you could make at a fast food place? With gas on the rise the cost all other things have also gone up. My gas cost alone would have been over $6.00. You do not have to work for these low ball companies.

Got a call yesterday also for a whopping $50. It too was 20 miles 1 way. But, it was o/n docs to borrower she said. Also said it was 140 pages with 6 notarizations.
Yes, you are so right, some dumbo took it. Better they lose, than me.
I've never heard from this company before and after the call, I looked them up on here. With their payment history, I would have declined it no matter how much they paid me. Grateful for this forum.

$40 is a lot worst than the person I mentioned earlier that would accept 75 mile signings for $50 here in San Diego. They need to seriously change their fee or maybe because they don't have the experience. Who knows . . . who cares? I'm tired of this. I probably need to get a job for now until the market gets back to the way it was or until these people or companies stop asking for ridicously low low low fees.

I spoke with my tax preparer. They said I need to make sure, including the drive to and from the closing, that I am making an average of $75 per hour. I thought $50 per hour was good but after looking at the cost of gas and supplies, I am only making $25 per hour.
