New Rules

Yesterday, while in a Real Estate office conference room waiting for the buyer on a purchase closing, I noticed a very large poster on the wall. It was the perils of the Real Estate business, but some of them also apply to us so I copied them down and here they are:

1. When sales are down, try taking a day off. If you're desparate, plan a 2 week vacation.

2. Whatever you learn in this escrow will NOT apply in the next. (good one for newbies)

3. If you say you're busy, they thinki you're making too much money. If you say you're not, they think you're unsuccessful.

4. Helping new agents is training your enemy (I would have said competition) -- We need to remember this when we get crying about how MEAN we are on this board because we don't "help" newbies.

Just thought you'd all get a good chuckle out of this. Probably should have gone on leisure, but it really is "work" related.

As a former realtor I can attest to #1. I didn't take a vacation for several years and as soon as I did...Whammo! One of my realtor freinds took the last week off for a road trip. The 3 days before she left, she listed 3 houses and has been fielding offers from the road.

People that I know who are successful, worked to help others become successful. They reaped what they sowed. People I know who are not successful, felt the need to keep everything to themselves...they were "helping the competition". Well, that got exactly what they gave....nothing.
