If it's Final Step out of MD then plan on waiting a very long time for the fee. 65days or more. They will pay in the long run. Did a few for them years ago and after that never again. No reason to wait longer then 30-40 days for our money. Plus that was during peak signing years, I can only imagine how long you would need to wait now.

This slow down should kill most small signing services within the next 2 months and only the CHEAP Big boys will be left.

Co listed in Signing Central as THE Final Step. Cheap, many fax backs and often split package return. They openly admited to me that they do not pay anyone until you call and complain. Have done a few jobs for them but will not do anymore.

"They openly admited to me that they do not pay anyone ...

until you call and complain." Aha! I knew it! I've suspected this is the policy of many other entities about which there are constant complaints posted here, including those about which others post, "Just keep on them; they'll pay" or "It can take 60-75 days, but they pay." How many people quietly wait 60-75 days without even one reminder (or worse, beg, plead, cajole, and/or threaten), other than Hugh for Title Stream (no offense intended)?

In fact, as to Hugh and TS, I'm thinking it's one of my other stock assumptions in play there--they pay (sometimes timely) their regulars to ensure their continued availability, but slowly, or not at all, those they only call once or rarely. (Sorry, Hugh, I mean no disrespect here. You are just the exception in these respects.)

So bottom line for those of us receiving the rare calls from those entities complained about for exceptionally slow pay, decline the assignment, unless you want to earn it twice. And as for those that some say are no-pay and others say, "I've never had a problem; I work for them all the time," my rule is to just say "no, thanks," and tell them why.

Whew, didn't mean for this to turn into a rant (not directed as such at Hugh, of course).

They phoned mee two weeks ago wanting a full time NSA said they were having problems with notaries they were currently using and wanted to offer me a whopping $50 - $65.00 per signing stating they could give me bulk work. Who are they kidding in this market? Never accepted.

Final Step (no s) has been around for a very long time...early 90's. Like many, they were a good paying co. 'til the oversaturation of NSAs hit the streets. Hang in there on your fees; the world is changing and they CAN pay better.

I think their called " The Final Step" yes I had trouble with this company in fact I was told , that they were having Financial problems, and was asked by the owner's son, for notaries to wait 3 months berfore getting paid, told him I would cause the Mortgage to be cancelled, and that Lending Tree was the lender and I'm sure that they would'nt like it to well, and told me that the company (Lending Tree) had'nt paid him yet ,and was going bankrupt, well I personal know the CEO and told her what was going on, needless to say she contacted " The Final Step" and told him If I caused the Act of Mortgage Cancellation that their would be serious actions taken against him and told them that they paid the notary 6o days prior and they should'nt be holding another companies payment for services rendered , needless to say my money was sent directly from his personal account, (Owner's Father) of ''The Final Step''

would from this wise Notary from Louisiana, DO NOT CLOSE FOR THIS COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

LA notaries can have mortages canceled?

I knew you guys carry more clout and responsibility in your state due to the difference in legal systems, but this is pretty impressive...

Be prepared to wait over 60 days for payment.

Gary from Final Step called me today for a closing 20 miles from me with edocs and offered $90. He said it was a Lending Tree loan and he was only getting paid $125.

I knew when I answered the call and he identified himself that we would not be able to come to an agreement on fees and considering his payment practices, it's not worth my time even at twice the fee he offered.

Although the number of closings is decreasing, it's just not worth the hassle to chase a company for my money.
