HP Laser Jet P2015dn

Dual tray printer, but it's not picking the right paper on the test I have run - it is only pulling legal from tray 3 (I have letter in tray 2). I have searched here and the HP manual, with no luck. My test was on a PDF file and I am figuring that I don't have the preferences set properly. Any help anyone can give will be very much appreciated, thank you so much.

If it's new call HP. Make sure the settings on the printer are correct each drawer must be set and when you print are the settings on auto?
I have a 2420 dual printer and depending on how a company sends their docs determines what driver to use. It seems to confuse my printer.
