Has LandAmerica tried This on You?
I have had several recent instances in which I acceppted a closing from LandAmerica One Stop, only to find when the edocs arrived that it was, in fact, a double (GMAC and Countrywide Home Loans). Today, I had to call three times before I got an updated order with the second fee added. Have you had this come up? The next time, they will be unhappy because I will not accept their paltry second fee, and they will be paying a significantly higher amunt, as their seconds are often as lengthy as their firsts.

No, they haven't tried it on me. We can never agree on a fee for doing a first, let alone a double.

They won't pay my fees either - I don't miss them
Every time they try to get me to accept a lot less, and when I won't, I get a snotty "Well, we'll just have to remove you from our list". And my response is "Promise???" LOL

Re: In their defense -- playing devil's advocate here
Ther are lots of times that the hiring company doesn't know it's a piggyback until you tell them. This goes not just for LandAm, but other companies as well. I've found by calling them & telling them that it is a double, they usually have no problem upping the fee to an agreeable amount.

I haven't had your experience but I'll tell you mine with landam. On three occasions I was called on the eve of the end of the month to close a last minute mtg. I turned down good closings and each time I waited and waited then finally called them only to find out they gave the closing to someone else. One employee had the nerve to tell me they gave it to the person they originally wanted but couldn't do it at first. When I complained some nasty rotten woman said if I didn't like their way they do business she would take me off the notary list. Guess what, they call me I won't work for them and I'm surviving. They think their s---t don't stink.
