More signs of the times
Its rough everywhere, we didn't have a single signing until the last week of the month. This week was busy for us but it's still going to be the worse month since we started 2 years ago. Someone in the area is taking the $60 e-docs calls.
Last year about this time, we used all our 3000 anytime minutes of our cell phone plan. Last month we used less that 400 and some of those were turning down $50 - $60 requests......
From Aug 2006 to Aug 2007 the number of cases for government supported employment services (my full time job) are up 47%. Sept looks as if it will be higher.
New home sales were down 8% for Aug, the largest decrease in 7 years.... New home builders are slashing prices to move inventory.
Lenders and signing services are going out of business leaving signing agents unpaid.
For the new signing agent.... Spend this time getting ready for the market to improve. No rush, it will not be next month nor the next. Get the book from the signing registry and study it. Develop a website and a fee structure. Practice negotiating higher fees. Market your services, it will pay off in the future. Realize that no one is going to hand you a list of their "best companies"..... The veterans here have done all the steps above for them selfs. As far as posting questions here, search and read before you ask. It has been asked before!
