Non SA notary work

Are any of you doing any other notary work? If so, what type of companies call you to do work?

You might want to try mentoring to the newbies. Based on all the newbies posting here, that is a new business opportunity!

I don't want to broadcast this on the whole website, but I am thinking of putting my cards in old folk's homes. I am sure they are stuck in the facility, and need to have their kids drive them to a notary. I keep forgetting to do that. I think I will charge $25 for the trip and one document, but $10 more per document. (Unless it's a loan, then I will charge loan prices) (I am going soft because I think about my grandma). But I will target the ones close to home.

I actually do quite a bit of non SA work. I have several nursing homes that call me regularly, a guy who flips mobile homes, and I get alot of quit claims that families are completing. In Nevada, we can homestead so I get those too.
I also get the occasional loan. The company tells the borrower to find their own notary.
I have an ad in the phone book and also in yellowpages.com.
I don't make the money that I do off of loans but it's another source of income.

Okay, I guess I did broadcast that to the whole forum

So if you don't like my fees, you don't have to tell me all about it.

CJ,

I think you have a great idea. I work at a Dr.'s office part time and many of his patients are elderly. Since I'm not in the same state may I take your idea and run with it?

Re: Yes, I am just worried about LOCAL competition.

Anyone can have my not-so-original idea. As long as you don't live within 1/2 hour from me, I don't care. But I really can't do anything about it if you lived nearby either. Smile

Bottom line....95% of people aren't going to do much to get up out from behind their computer anyhow.

If newcomers to this business won't even put forth the effort to read and get the flavor of the community before posting* ...I don't think you need to worry about newbies getting your idea...and to be honest, I personally don't see the nursing homes or retirement centers as places to get business...jmho...I will only charge a person in a nursing home or retirement center when their kids are paying for it. Nursing homes have their own notaries a lot of the times, just like hospitals.

*(Which IS absolutely common etiquette for forum frequenters, folks--if that sounds odd to you, read up on netiquette.)

Thanks so much CJ. I know that business is difficult now and we have to stick together, which is why I asked first even though I am in a different state. Best of luck to you and everyone else on this forum.
