Notray Pro

Just received an email from this company about updating my profile but only if I can do Title One loans, FHA, VA and Reverse, can anyone give me advice on the first 3 I mentioned please.
Thanks

Title One loans were discussed three threads down; FHA and VA are government backed loans; before you look further, I'd strongly recommend doing a search on Notary Pro....NONE of these loans, IMO, especially the reverse mortgages, can be done for the prices they pay - in addition to what's been posted in the very recent past, they offered me $50 for a signing not so long ago - $20 if the signing canceled at the table. Your call.

I have done 3-4 signings for Notary Pro, 2 as recently as July. They were Quicken loans with docs to borrower (which take about 15 minutes with little or no BS). They met my base fee, they also paid within 30 days. I don't have any problem with them. I also don't see any harm in getting your name in their database and I think they deserve credit for trying to be proactive in this environment. At this point I am not going to turn away potential business. JMHO.

OK. fire,

Here's my take on Notary Pro.

They're not Pro-Notary...at least in my case.

Did one for them maybe a year and a half or two years ago.

H and R Block was the lender and H and R screwed up a couple of docs.

So, Notary Pro wanted me to go back out and get them resigned.

They'd pay me an extra $25.

I grudgingly agreed.

The extra $25 never came after repeated phone calls and promises.

We'll look into that...they said. Yeah, right. I guess they're still looking.

That one was the first...and it turns out...the ONLY one I'll do for them.

IF A COMPANY'S WORD IS NO GOOD.....THE COMPANY IS NO GOOD.

They've called me several times since and I've told them to go blow smoke at a forest fire.

How do you even get the journal entries done in 15 minutes? Quickens require blue ink for signing & black ink for anything written (like the notary sections) -- I spend more than 15 minutes just switching pens! You must be related to Speedy Gonzales -- Arriva! Arriva!

There was no ink switching, the pens came in the package. Also there was one, maybe two acknowledgements to fill out. I may have exaggerated just a little on the time but it wasn't by much. And I would have done a regular first refi for the fee they paid. I know there are folks around here that have a problem with Notary Pro, I'm just saying I haven't had any problems, the opposite in fact. again, JMHO.

It may have taken 15 minutes for your signing, but how about the 20 phone calls? They want you to call when you confirm with borrower, when you are getting dressed to go to the signing, when you arrive at the signing, during the signing (at least twice), and when you are finished with the signing, if you haven't started to fax back their 20 pages within 15 minutes of completing the signing they start calling wanting to know when you are going to fax back. IMHO, it isn't worth their cheap fees even if the signing takes 15 minutes. And that $20 trip fee is not worth the risk of a no sign.

I know I'm not going to win friends on this forum by singing the praises of Notary Pro, I'm just calling it like I see it...I give a price based on several factors (travel distance, hand-holding factor, special instructions, size of package, etc.) and the company can take it or leave it. No different for them than for anybody else.

Re: Notary Pro

Because you have to have a title producer's license, I'm going to assume that you can demand and receive higher fees than most people in other states, especially those that have been inundated by new notaries. I certainly hope so, at least! Either that, or your base fee is entirely too low. Your state's situtation is different than most people's on this board, so I suggest that you're not exactly in the best position to give advice on fees. For what they pay and for all the headaches, as well discussed by others, I certainly wouldn't be including them among the good guys...

Janet--as far as base fees go, having a TPL has

gotten me an increase of about 50% in my fee (not as much as I had hoped when I set out). The 3 other LTP's in my county (I know all of them)are all in the same range as far as fees go. I work for what I feel I can make a profit on and put a reasonable value on my time and I want to be compensated for any extra effort. This may still be lower than what other people in other states charge but the cost of living in my area is not what it is in, say, California. Or even Baltimore, MD.

Of course there are unlicensed notaries offering their services that I suspect are doing closings for less than we are (not to mention companies that seek them out). Believe me, if I could find a way to double my fee I would. And just to clear things up, I wasn't giving anyone advice on fees.

Re: Janet--as far as base fees go, having a TPL has

Exactly. The point I was fumbling to get at is that your fees from a company like Notary Pro may be higher than for the rest of the country because of your TPL, so while it may be worth it for you to work for them - especially with a lower cost of living, for most people on this board, that will not likely be the case. I don't know what they pay here these days because I haven't worked for them in a very long time (I did some when I was new), but even with the high cost of living, I'm pretty sure their pay is very low. Hence, your recommendation may be misleading for the majority.

Re: Janet--as far as base fees go, having a TPL has

I don't know what the going fee for firegirl's part of Maryland is, but I can assure you in my part of Maryland Notary Pro is a lowballer along the lines of FASS and LandAm. Just according to this site within 50 miles of me are around 30 TPL's listed. My guess is a few of them probably do do work for Notary Pro at the lowball prices. I will say I know of 2 unlicensed notaries who claim to work for them in this area. I have no proof they actually do but they sure seem to know all about Notary Pro's ridiculous handholding and fax back policy.

Wow Dawn, 15 minutes?

I've done nearly 125 Quickens this year (none for Notary Pro) and I thought I was doing great with 30 minutes! I'm dying to know how you get this done so quickly.
