PA marriages
This is for all those who read these boards and don't realize that many things are state specific. I look through profiles and I see that quite a few PA people state they perform marriages. If any of you read this, you had better be careful if you are an internet 'ordained' minister. This has nothing to do with a notary performing a marriage. I have posted about this previously because the Orphans' Courts have been warning people about the possibility of a problem. The first PA case has been ruled on and these marriages are, right now, not legal in PA. Because CA or some other state allows this, doesn't mean every state does. I am sure this case will now be appealed by the 'church' that ordained the minister but who wants to be involved in something like this? Again, state specific is one of the most important aspects of our jobs. Because a site you pay to be listed on has the general question to everyone asking if you can perform a marriage and others post how thrilled they are to do so doesn't mean everyone should jump on that band wagon and advertise their services without thoroughly checking their state's specifics.
