Questions on what to charge

Upon opening and completing (so I thought) my profile, it asked me for my fees (Since I am completely new to this) the only thing I was able to add was the price I am willing to charge for milage. My question is: I know that it is going to be hard with me now out here just to compete against all, but I am hoping at least I may get some honest answers.

Question 1: What does one charge for a standard fee?
Question 2: What does one charge for an E-Doc?
Question 3: What does one charge for Copy Cost/Package?
Question 4: What does one charge for Fax-back Cost?

Please answer me honestly............

I leave my prices blank here on my profile and when I get a call I ask "What are you willing to pay?" If they do not quote a acceptable price, I then quote my price to them. I do not have my prices set here or on my website. I am am still designing my website but will not have loan doc prices on it.

I shouldn't be laughing

but where else but here does someone solicit their competition to set the prices for THEIR business. Do not post your prices on your profile. You will be giving up way to much, especially at EOM. It is YOUR business. You need to set YOUR prices. Do your due dilligence. You obviously have some understanding of how difficult of a marketplace this is right now. In order to get a foothold you are going to have to outwork your competition. Know your states notary laws. Study the documents. Read this board completely. Draw up a business plan, and have a marketing stratedgy. And for god's sake, don't ask or expect your competition to set your pricing. None of the above is meant to be critical, but rather a frank assessment of your path thus far. Being self employed is not for the faint of heart, if you your due dilligence, take the critical advice as well as the warm and fuzzy stuff you have just as much chance of success as anyone. Best of luck to you and study, study, study:-)

April...I love your picture...the pose and angle are awesome...I think it is beautiful as well as you personally and your baby. However, you might want to consider replacing it with a picture of yourself in business clothing. Just a tip for someone getting started...not meant to be critical. I know this sounds crazy but you never know what kind of crank is going to be looking at your picture and have a negative reaction to a happy mom holding a baby and move on to the next profile. Have your "photographer" shoot another striking black and white of you from the waist up or with a shoulder shot.

April: As smart-alecky as some Posts here seem, ...

... you'd better take to heart some of the messages.

Brenda is, as always, right on. Your picture with your baby is very attractive, as art as well as a homey image. It does not, however, belong in your Profile, for a variety of reasons.

Please lose "Precious diamonds". It is too cute for a professional.

Good luck!

Your questions 1-4 are the exact questions a

business plan will answer, after a thorough Cost/Benifit Analysis.

What is the actual cost of these services? What is my profit margin? What is my savings/investment strategy? What is the cash-flow projection? Am I a good bookkeeper?

What are my income needs? How much is health care, education, general living expenses, transportation, taxes; in short, what is my living day to day budget?

Does my budget compare favorably with the business plan's findings? Can I deal with the ranges presented in this rapidly changing market?

Hopefully, your fees will develop out of your investigations and experiences.

Best of luck,
Susie
