The Meltdown of Countrywide

Since they have laid off over 12,000 employees, it's been nothing but problems trying to get docs. They weren't always the speediest anyway, but now it seems to have gotten worse.
Last week I had a closing for them and the non-borrowing spouse had a fifteen minute window in which to sign. I let them know at 9 AM I needed docs at a certain time, called again at 1 pm, then called again at 2. (Needed docs by 3:30 pm).
At 3:40 pm, CW rep calls me and tells me they don't have docs all done, and I explain again to her about the 15 minute window. She tells me, "We'll have to find another notary". I tried my best to get her to understand we had a 15 minute time LIMIT and no way can I make the closing on time for this guy. She keeps telling me, "we'll have to find another notary". I finally gave up on her, and told her "go ahead.. I cannot make it there for him unless I left my house 20 minutes ago".
2 hours later she calls me and asks me if I can do the signing the next day, as the borrower's spouse only had 15 minutes in which to sign yesterday. Geez.
Last night was to have been at a closing at 7 pm...guess what time I got docs.... 8:45 pm.
This is AFTER the loan office called me at 4 pm to confirm I was going to do the closing... once again, told him what time I needed to leave by and was assured I'd have docs LONG before I needed to leave.
It's sad to see a top company fall apart so badly...it makes us & the title companies look bad when the lender can't get it together.

I've had the same experience recently with them. Or -- better yet -- expecting e-docs & I call & call only to find out, finally, that docs were overnighted to the borrower. Why oh why didn't someone know that hours before?

Just the opposite for me

One of my favorites picked up a portion of countrywide and the docs ARE overnighted to the borrower.

So it's actually become easier.

The thing that I have been getting lately is that a 1/2 hour before the appointment they tell me its now a piggy back. I am not complaining because my fee goes up but do they not know this just a little before?

Newbies: read this post too.

And for all you newbies, this is not just Countrywide. There is a chance of this happening with any email job.

Re: Hmmm..I had a Countrywide Monday night..

I have not had problems with getting docs, I assume that it depends which branch they are coming from. It seems that my docs come from WA or UT. It will smooth out may be a while but it will.
