Two more casualties?

"The mortgage industry continues to shed jobs as First Horizon National Corp. announced it would eliminate at least 1,500 positions by early 2008 as Option One Mortgage Corp. said it would lay off another 575 workers beyond the 615 job losses announced on May 15."

From The Mortgage Ledger today.

Linda, did you catch the uptick in loans originated?

Seems like a bit of a bright spot wouldn't you say?

I've got the 18th circled on my calendar and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If all goes as is speculated, we should see a nice uptick.

I spoke with a couple of Brokers I know and it seems as though they picked up a lot of the work of companies that closed. One broker I attempted to contact for a friend stated she was really busy for the past two weeks in part due to the heavey volume left over from those companies that closed in this area. In fact she told me to stand by so she could push them my way for closing.
