( HARRY ) Rate a Notary

How about a place where a SS can rate a Notary ?

I bet that if you asked your SS lst if they would like to have that, it would go over like hotcakes.

So what do you think Harry ?

Re: ( HARRY ) Rate a Notary - Yes!

Count in my vote for this~I almost said hotcake, but after reading it, it didn't sound too professional ;P

I like the idea, a lot.

It took us awhile, but we added that a couple releases ago. Companies who are logged-in to their agency accounts can rate notaries in the same way notaries can rate companies. (As well as making notes about them, assigning work orders, etc.) I should probably add it to the Find a Notary search results for them, otherwise they can't see the rating until they click "Rate" from a notary profile.

Those individual ratings would be perfect for building into an aggregate, but we don't want to do that unless it is clearly understood by the companies that the ratings are being used that way. This is because certain companies are very sensitive about their notary quality information.

As a user of a community notary database, maybe you could shed some light on that. If everyone is working from the same list, that is not an advantage. If everyone had access to a group "quality" rating, that would not be an advantage (except possibly to the greater community). I guess it would then come down to who could most effectively find and retain the business?

Do we have access to our ratings? I have not found a way to access them.

Not at this time. Since they are not being used for anything other than personal reference, it has not been a priority. (And very, very few people currently have ANY rating/comments by other companies or users.)

Harry what are you thinking......

any rating of notaries facilitated by your site seems like unethical treatment to those who pay for a listing. Especially egregious if that rating was available to potential customers and hidden from the listing notary. Who besides those notaries with stellar ratings would renew their listing? I think you will seriously undermine your interests if you become implemented in rating the notaries that list with you. Charles/Ca was gone before the end of the thread you posted on rating notaries.

Re: Harry what are you thinking......

There are only certain things that an employer can say about an ex-employee in order not to be sued. Yes, things are said all the time as asides, but if one loses the opportunity to work for someone because of anything said about them, whether derogoratory or not, then one has a lawsuit that many will be happy to assist.

This is akin to kids on the playground - today they are enemies, tomorrow the parents are enemies while the kids are happily playing alongside.

My opininion - bad idea.

Re: Harry what are you thinking......

I agree with this, too. We've all probably had at least one situation where the LO decided to "blame it on the notary" to cover his or her own behind. I'm sure some of the complaints negative ratings would be justified, but certainly not all of them. I feel we should at least have the opportunity to rebut or comment.
