Most Edocs that I get are pdf, but sometimes you will get them striaght from the lender or title in their software. Some are more user friendly than others. PDF is the best way.

PAW's website has links for the most common ones

I have gone to PAW's website to download and install the most common edocs software programs whenever I've had a computer crash or set up a new computer.
I recommend DocMaster_4.0, EDSViewerSetup, elynxprintutility, GMDPlayback, GmdPrint, GmdView, and BAINSTALL for starters along with the absolutely essential latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for .pdf files. Most companies these days rely on .pdf files, but there's always the oddball that is using lynx or some other software.

Three sites to find edoc programs

My site: http://www.detroitnotary.com/notaryresources.htm
PAW's site: http://pawnotary.com/download/

The third one apparently is hitting a filter. When I try to post their link I get a message saying there's an error with my post. I guess they're considered competition. But there's a link on my page to their edoc page.

I like pdf.

I know when I click on pdf, it will open, and I can start printing.

Sometimes websites have passwords, and they forget to give them to you, or they forget they changed the password. Lots of thing might go wrong. But you don't need them going wrong when the docs show up after business hours, and all the tech support (or the person with the password) has gone home.

Re: No need to be overwhelmed......

When you have a good question people here are more than willing to help. It's the questions that show an absolute lack of knowledge of the industry i.e how do I get business, or how do I fill out an acknowledgement, etc. that will get the bashing and the fur flying.
