these times - somewhat of a poll...

are slow for all full timers. I get on the pc everyday in the morning and apply and touch bases with my old and new companies to see who's doing what. Educational to say the least...

I had to force myself until I got some butt kickin' music to play while typing away.

What's your fav? I don't have a link for this one, it's in my I-tunes. Maybe a google will find the download. Fun stuff. (Dinner Music - Classical Spanish Guitar - Armik - Gypsy Flame.)

What do you do to self motivate and keep your nose to the grindstone?

Re: smooth jazz and instrumentals

Charm, have you heard of Alexander Zonjic? He and the others in his group are locals here in Michigan but they play all over and haves CD's out there. I absolutely love his music....Oh! And no one opens their mouth! LOL! Check him out if you get a chance.

I'm taking a popcorn ceiling down. It's been on hold for waaay too long. And, no, I didn't put it up. This was my break. Back to work.

Re: Popcorn

I always wanted to take mine down also but did not have the guts,I thought it would be such a mess! Did you have a plan so it would not be so messy and what do you do after its down? Resurface or just paint? So many questions I know. I just hate mine!!!

Della, popcorn use to contain...

asbestos so wear a mask as breathing it is very harmful. Remove your furniture and place visqueen on the floor wall to wall. Using water and a sprayer , soak the popcorn. This helps to keep airborne asbestos particles to a mimium and lets you scrape off the popcorn with ease leaving a clean drywall surface. If the original taping job was bad or you gouge the sheetrock when scraping the popcorn off you may need to refloat areas with sheetrock topping compound before painting. If you texture it with drywall compound sometimes these defects will not show. The secret to a good job is soaking the popcorn with water and use a 10-12 inch drywall knife to carfully scrape off the popcorn. wrap up the whole mess with the visqueen on the floor, done deal.

Good luck, Larry

Larry is correct on this procedure - it is so FAST when done this way, and the ease in removal is astounding! Just finished w/the last of my ceilings, doing whole thing in one day - scraping, priming and painting.

My new love is "Joss Stone" she is young with an old soul. My daughter introduced me to her. We got to see her in consert this year for her 29th birthday. I heard that she was on the Oprah show. She sings like Aritha Franklin.

Check her out.

I had to get away from my computer so I took a drive out in the country. Very relaxing for me.

Replacing the whole house carpet with those nice looking wood laminate flooring. Been at it for over a month now, got one of the kids room done and the utility room is almost there. You know how this business goes. The phone will start to ring as soon as you ignored it.

Started doing some light temp work to get out of the house 1-2 days a week. For the past few days I've been working on the car. Small stuff like changing hoses and clamps nothing big unless you consider car detailing to be hard work. Just making sure it's ready in case business turns around.

For flamenco music, I like Govi - Seventh Heaven album, Ottmar Liebert. B-tribe also has spanish guitar and is great for those massages I used to be able to afford and calms me down during L.A. traffic that I'll never get used to. I like indie music, so if you like something different - Bitter:sweet and Gotan Project.

I listen to talk radio. No, it's not your father's talk radio. It's modern, conversational, in your face, todays news + talk. Try it, you might like it.
