A Question for the Title Pros out there
If a name is spelled correctly on the deed, does capitalization matter?
For example: borrower's name is McElloy (made up name) but deed shows Mcelloy.
I had a signing recently where this situation occured. The borrower sign their correctly-capitalized name, and it hasn't come back, but now I'm wondering.

It's probably just a computer program glitch that won't 'allow' a capitalization in the middle of a word.

My laptop for my job will not allow me to type a capital letter in the middle of a word. It won't even let me type a name like J'uan. Doesn't like punctuation characters in the middle of a word.

Re: from a title company viewpoint
It probably doesn't make any difference to the validity of the deed but it's not very good customer service. We have customers who are very sensitive about their names....I can even remember one asking for our Superior Service Guaranty for a mispelled name. (We give their escrow fee back if they find fault with any part of the closing)
