Blackberry
Thinking of upgrading to this but wanted to get feedback. Is it worth it & do you know approx how much extra you pay for the internet service. I must admit I am not too tech savvy but love the idea of knowing when I get emails, esp when waiting for docs rather than having to check the comp all day. TIA

I love my Blackberry
I have had it for almost five years and it is well worth the cost.
The cost for the data/internet plan varies according to carrier.
I have T-Mobile and pay $19.99/month on top of my phone minutes plan.

Re: I love my Blackberry
I have had a blackberry since they came out. I have had upgraded over the years and I now have the Pearl 8100. I love being able to get my email on the phone, I do not use the internet too much as it is real sloooooow. But beng notified I have a email and if I need to respond quickly I can. If not I just use my laptop. I do have inspections that I am notified by email and I can click on a link and accept immediately. I also get emailed to do loan signings and it pays to be the first one to respond.

Re: I love my Blackberry
I have the Blackberry 8830 for at least a year now with verizon and I really like seeing my e-mails when they come in. Especially when I am at a signing and a request or confirmation comes in and I can reveiw it once the signing is done. Comes in handy if you have to do a few signings and running around all day. Between T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon I think the web access average fees are between 19.99 to 45.00 per month.

I just upgraded to a Blackberry w/ sprint. My fees are 59+20 for internet. Strill getting use to it. It works best when my PC is turned off

Re: I love my Blackberry
I got the Peral 8100 back in November and I love it!! I have AT&T and I think the internet runs me about $25 a month unlimited. While it is slow, I can come here and look up companies if I am somewhere (doctors etc). The only downside is if I have to call somewhere & the phone number is spelled out (i.e. 1-800-GoFedex) the letters & numbers dont correspond. But thats where texting google comes in handy and they send you the number and it is linked.

Re: I love my Blackberry
I've had several Blackberries and would not want to be without mine. I currently have the 8800 from AT&T and I pay about $30.00 extra for unlimited email and text. If/when I add data I believe it will be + $30.00. I won't need to do that until e-signings start and then I will probably get an air card as I'm told they will run on the 3G network and be faster than the EDGE connection on the BB.

Re: I love my Blackberry
I currently have a Blackberry Curve and love it. I tried the Treo but was constantly having technical difficulties and lost email. Nothing pushes email like a Blackberry and when I'm out on a consulting assignment, that is my lifeline. My plan is through at&t and is more reasonable than the Treo data plan. I also use Jott for voice messaging when I don't want to type. btw...I'm a new Oregon Notary and am happy to be here!

I just bought a Blackberry and am not tech saavy either but muddled through and I don't know how I got along without it. Make the investment it's worth it.

Love my 8130. Could not go a day without reading emails no matter where I am. My provider is Verizon and the data plan I use is $25/mo. It's the most basic plan they offer.

Personally, I don't think it is worth it in this down environment. $400-500 a year to get your e-mail quickly when you don't really need it, plus the cost of the phone, new plan extension, etc. Then again, some of you need to know right away. If you just need to know when docs come in, then set up yahoo or g-mail alerts to text message your phone

RE: "If you just need to know when docs come in, then set up yahoo or g-mail alerts to text message your phone"....???? Can this type of alert be set up with Verizon Wireless, using a "basic" phone capable of receiving text messages? I think there is a service called "SMS"? I would just like to know when I receive docs from TC's & SS's....but not ALL my e-mail (with Spam being such a problem?!), while away from home and laptop. Thanks!
