Blue Sky Title ?

anybody know what happened with them? I was told last month they "had" to start using a signing service but things would go back to normal "soon". Now nobody is answering emails or the phone. I am owed $500.00

How long has it been since you did the closing? I did a closing for them last month. They said they normally pay within 30 days. It's getting close to the 30 days for me, and this post is making me a little worried.

By the way, my impression was that Blue Sky Settlement Services out of Peoria, AZ IS a signing service. They seemed to be the intermediary between myself and Old Republic Title, the TC that was used for the closing.

How long since you performed services for them?

Last one was on March 26 they usually pay on time, I have done several closings for this company and never had a problem, to make matters worse I just got a UPS bill all of the shipments I sent back to them are being billed to me because the account has been closed, NOT a good sign.

How did UPS bill you? Did you put yourself as shipper?

But, your right that this is not a good sign. I wish you luck.

Yes, Lesson learned

I never thought this would happen with this company, I never thought twice about putting my info on there.

Re: Yes, Lesson learned

Oh by the way, I just looked at the UPS slip I used. I know never to put my info on the return slip. I usually put the company as the sender and receiver, but on this one I used the borrower's information as the sender. HA! I guess UPS will be harrassing the borrower on this one.

Never ever put your name on a UPS or FedEx Bill

I know the reason notary/loan signers go on the Internet and print out the FedEx/UPS labels because it is so much more convenient/faster and looks more professional than a hand written label.

The sender and the receiver are always the same name and never put your name or phone number on one of these labels.

Don't put the borrowers name on it because UPS/FedEx will find you and charge you. Don't think the borrower is going to get stuck with the charges because they won't.

I got charged back for one I did for another company. I eventually got it paid by the company I did the job for, but after that and the EFS chargebacks that others received, I went back to hand-written airbills for EVERY client, no matter how good a client they were in the past.

Meant to say handwritten airbills with the client name in the FROM section. Before that, I was doing them on-line and I showed as the shipper.

Thanks for the info, Lisa. WOW. If this is what I think it is, then this will be the first company I've worked for that's gone belly-up and stiffed me. Luckily, I save all copies of the loan docs until I get payment, so I have the Title Company and Lender's contact info. I'll start annoying the TC and Lender for payment if I can't get a hold of anyone at Blue Sky within the next week. Luckily for me, I'd only be out for one signing.

I suspected something might be fishy when they raved about what a wonderful job I did, told me they'd put me at the top of their list for the East Valley, and then e-mailed me a week later saying that "changes had been made to their signing process and they weren't sure how often they'd need me." (There were not issues or errors with the loan docs on my part, for the record).

Lisa, I'm going to try to send you a private message, too.

Re: Blue Sky Title -has closed their doors.

Blue Sky closed their doors as of the middle of April. I talked to Bryan in the Peoria office last Friday. He was only there to clean out the office and gather his personal belongings. If anyone has any info for their company back east, please share. I am owed money from a signing service for a signing that I did -Blue Sky being the title co. Was told that all money owed was paid thru March. Start calling the lender if all else fails. Sorry....

Re: Blue Sky Settlement Services -has closed their doors.

This sucks. I just called them and no answer. Unless someone has any contact information for another one of their offices, I'll be calling Countrywide directly to try and collect.

I've never had to do this before, and I'm surprised that my first one has to be with a Title Company. Has anyone out there had any success collecting from a Lender when the Title Company goes belly up?

Nope, but I have a huge pile of correspondence from EFS BK..

which, if I'd been paid 10 cents per page mailed to me in relation to the bankruptcy, I'd have twice what they owe me. It was a CW, too & they claim they paid EFS. I don't really expect to see a dime. But, at least I didn't get stuck for the airbill, too. Always, always hand write them on airbills you've gotten from dropboxes... do not even put your phone # on it... and there is NO WAY to trace them back to you. A lesson learned the hard way--of course.

If you go to http://www.blueskyss.com/contact/index.asp and click "Contact us" you'll find numbers for their offices, but I've tried all of them and they're not answering. The California office doesn't even have voice mail. No one's answering at the MA number (which is just their toll-free number anyway).

I wonder if it would even be worth it to file in small claims and wait the 30 days to get a default judgment.

Sorry to keep posting about this, but I just tried the Henderson, NV office again at (702) 966-8351. An operator answered and when I told her I was calling about a non-payment issue she indicated that there was "only one person in this office" and she would connect me to her. I got the "other person's" voice mail and left a message.

At least we know that, for now, there are a couple of live people at the NV office.
