But the question begs to be asked why you would post this on the forum as opposed to his personal e-mail since he did send you an e-card. To put it on the forum is fair game since it was meant for all to see. What is the purpose to post it here? Human curiosity since we were invited into the conversation.

"check your pm" . "Got it, sent you one back!" "thanks" and the like. Do these people also call their friends to tell them that they sent them an email?

Some could see this as chatting about a party others weren't invited to. Not exactly the best etiquette. Point being, that the PM thing has an option where a person can receive an email when they have a private message. When I'm online, I get notified everytime I get an email, as I imagine most do. So the need to take up board space posting to everyone that you sent a PM to someone should be unnecessary. Good to know I'm not the only one who finds that practice a little... I think I'll stick with "unnecessary".
