Decided to do it, start an SS.

We will service only NC. I have 2 business partners that will be involved. Now to find good notaries in the state of NC, and start slowly.

Once we settle on a business name, I'll pay for the SS listing here on NR.

Thanks to all those that answered my many questions.

Good for you and all the best!!!! Recently I was asked some companies to start up as an SS which is what I wanted to do when I first received my license but decided to wait and do further research. Still researching and am in no rush to start it as of yet.

If youre going to do it, you may as well not limit yourself. Go Nationwide. You'll need the phone and fax lines anyway, and toll free doesn't cost much more. Remember 24/7 MEANS 24/7!
Good Luck!

I'd rather limit myself at first. Start slow like the tortoise. I want to make sure we always have enough staff, and can do a good job. Starting slow will also help build the capital we would need if we ever decided to go nationwide. It will also let us see what things work and what don't.

Good Luck Lisa! If you decide to go Nationwide, I'll be glad to be your Ohio connection!

Congrats and any tips for those of us still in the

"maybe I should process", would be greatly appreciated - perhaps set up a blog on your new site?

Congrats! Starting up an SS is a big step. It seems NC is an untapped market.
I live not far from the VA/NC border & at first contemplated trying to get a NC Commission.
I don't think they offer it to non-residents. Someone has posted on another board that there are no title companies in NC, and I'm not sure about that either. Wishing you great success!
