Did anyone else receive this e-mail?

I got this from [e-mail address]:

Received the following email from Nationwide Signers of 8275 S. Eastern
Ave. #200 Las Vegas, NV 3 :702.938.0478 Fx:866.610.5751

Although he promises to pay all notaries, please keep a close eye out
on your receivables for this company.

Hello Everyone,

As much as it pains me to write this email, I would like to inform
everyone that as of today at 5pm, Nationwide Signers, LLC will be shutting
their doors. Due to the decreased volume and other ventures currently
in place with the owner of Nationwide Signers, we have decided to close
down.

We would like to thank everyone for their loyalty over the past couple
of years. Our final piece of business will be to make sure that all
invoices are sent out and collected, as well as making sure that all
notaries owed will be paid in full by the end of the month. There were
over 25 checks that went out last week. On Saturday, we received ALL of
them back due to using stamps that were old in our office that did not
have the correct amount needed to send mail. Not only did we lose a bit
of money by wasting those stamps, we were unable to deliver checks as
promised. Notaries, rest assured my number one priority is making sure
that each of you are paid for the services rendered. I know what it
is to do work, and have all of these companies shut down without paying.
I WILL NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. We received more checks from title
companies this week, and we have enough to cover all outstanding
invoices. There is no need to send invoices, our computer system has
generated the list, and it includes everyone who has not been paid to date.

We also have a couple of pending deals that came in this week. Again,
do not worry all checks will be cut. We appreciate everything you all
have done for us over the past three years, and we wish you the best in
the future. We have shut down our phone numbers to allow adequate
time to handle all outstanding deals.

David, the owner of Nationwide Signers, is continuing his venture as
the owner of Commercial Capital Group, a Las Vegas based Commercial
Broker. We have had an overwhelming positive response in this industry, and
will now be able to devote all employees and his own time into this
venture. If you are in need of commercial financing of any type, need
equipment leasing to purchase new equipment of any type, or are looking
to finance any land loans, please contact him at [e-mail address].

Once again, thank you all and good luck in all of your future
endeavors!

I call bullsh!t. The post office would deliver these as postage due to the receiver, they wouldn't return them to the sender.

Cali...I don't know about that

One time I sent out a letter and came back to me with a note on it, that postage was 2 cent less.

Re: Cali...I don't know about that

And I was a letter carrier for 9 years, had plenty of postage due envelopes come my way. I'm not saying it's 100% impossible that they were returned, but I think it's much more likely they'd be delivered.

Plus I find it AWFULLY convenient that 1) he just happened to find a bunch of old stamps and 2) he didn't notice the postage amount and 3) that those old stamps just happened to be used on a big batch of checks which sound like they were overdue already and 4) that this all happened at the exact time he decided to disconnect his phones and go out of business.

To me it all just sounds like another stupid excuse to cover up not having the money to pay the notaries.

Cali, Post Office WILL return mail w/insuf postage

I have had it happen too. My experience is that mail with insufficent postage will more typically be returned to the sender. The sender will have to add postage to reach the correct current postage amount.
I myself have "orphan" stamps that require additional 1 or 2 or 3 cents worth of postage to reach the current mailing costs. I won't throw that "money" away, but I keep forgetting to buy the necessary stamps to make them useable when I go to the post office.

Re: Cali, Post Office WILL return mail w/insuf postage

My question on this not being paid nonsense is, why don't they pay the notary once they get paid? Why the one month wait? I wonder how they would feel if they didn't get paid once the loan funded. I think maybe too many of these companies had alot floating around while not paying notaries in a timely manner. I've got some calls I need to make tomorrow to collect. I call after 2 weeks just as a reminder usually. I think a month is wrong personally. JMHO

why don't they pay the notary once they get paid?

From what I understand, we are the last to be paid....there is enough of a glut of notaries that the agencies can "hold" our fees and still find someone they don't owe to complete the task.
I recall a year or so ago calling and asking a co. about non-payment, hearing her sob story about being behind and having to "catch up" on notary payments, and we got into a heated argument about the issue.
The straw that broke my back was her comment that she had to make sure her staff got paid first, she couldn't afford to lose them....and I'll bet she paid herself first as well.
There is alot of poor planning in this industry, without the capital to back it up in the event of no-signs, recisssions, non-payment by lenders, etc.

A few years ago I also had tons of these. When I'd go for new stamps, I'd naturally have no idea what I had at home so I'd try to guess on the odd ball stuff. Never worked. One day I put all my misc. stamps in an envelope and taped it to my dashboard. Made a special trip to the PO for those misc. stamps as I was sick of looking at that envelope.
