Find a wireless carrier signal strength
There is a new service (still in beta testing) that allows cell phone users to input their signal strength at any given location. Then a user can look to see what signal strengths have been reported. This is going to be crucial at time goes on because of the need for wireless communication at borrower's homes and offices.
According to the site FAQ:
What cool new features were included in your recent update of SignalMap.com? - You can now find/add signals for the major carriers in the U.S. Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, and Australia. - We have added a few more U.S. carriers, including Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Cricket, and Qwest. - You can now search by address, city, state, and postal code for all supported countries. - You can remove signals shortly after adding them. - Users keep SignalMap accurate, by flagging the signals that appear wrong.
Why did you create SignalMap.com?
SignalMap was created because one of us had to try three cell phone service providers before he could find one that had a strong signal where he lived. All of the sales reps guaranteed that he would receive a strong signal where he lived. A couple of them even showed him maps with GREEN clouds over his home, indicating a guaranteed strong signal. The frustration led to an idea we now call SignalMap.com.
This is indeed an interesting and possibly a very beneficial site.
Their web address is http://www.SignalMap.com
(Remember, this is a beta test and is fairly new so reports may be a bit sparse for a while.
