Flourish at last minute
too bad they all want to go at the same time. Of the 3 offers, I was only able to accept 1. Did accept another but found out borrower was NOT flexible re: time & had to give it up :-(

Don't feel too bad Jen
I might only end up w/the 1 since I'm still waiting on docs for the other & have to leave in 10min. Why oh why couldn't any of these people tried to close on any other day of the week, or even today but at earlier times.

Re: Don't feel too bad Jen
Yeah I hate it (well let me not say hate, becuse then I will never get a call) but when your phone doesnt ring all day, then you get that one call for a signing at 7pm...and they dont get the docs to you until 6:30 and your rushing then you get to the borrowers house and they dont understand why the rate says this, when they were told that!!! And a signing that should have taken at the most 45 mins- an hour takes an hour and a half to 2 hrs... THEN you have to fax back 20 pages...
All for a grand total of $100!!!!! lol That's the story of a lot of our lives even if most of you don't want to admit it!!!! lol

Gee Whiz Jen
I hope you are (1) not reallly doing last minute e-docs with fax backs for $100, and (2) I hope you are NOT in MY area doing last minute e-docs with fax backs for $100. Part of the cost of doing e-docs is the added stress and I charge accordingly.
Your post reminds me of a call I had yesterday offering last minute e-docs for $100; They used to pay me $175 a short time ago for that type of transaction, then went down to $125, now they are looking for $100 notaries. It is getting to be a bit much!!! It's certainly not the way I choose to run by business.
Why are you even whining about it, if you are willing to work for those fees., you are only getting what you deserve.

not my story

Why are you there 1.5 to 2 hours? Either they are going to sign or they aren't.
As for the faxing back, again, with the proper equipment that should take a few minutes. Why are you rushing?
If they don't get you the docs timely you print them and get to the borrowers as soon as you can. You get the docs at 6:30, print until 6:45 and then get in your car and go !!!
AND, if you don't feel $100 is enough for your services, don't complain when you accept that fee.

$90 or $150?
I received a call for a last minute closing by a major player yesterday around 4pm. She offered me $90, I offered her $150 and she was like Whoa! But I got the job at $150 and this is a company that pays on schedule. My philosophy is you have not because you ask not and be willing to walk away if they cannot meet the fee. For a quality fee they will get a quality closing from beginning to end. They are happy with the results and I am happy with the pay. It's a win win transaction with not regrets about bad service or low pay.

One more thing
One must set a fee that is not contingent on time frame because that variable can never be known. You must be content to work for X amount of dollars regardless of whether the closing takes 30 minutes or 3 hours(rare) but it can happen. Therefore if you charge appropriately you are happy (really happy) if it takes 30 minutes, weary if it goes into a few hours but satisfied that your fee covers the unknown time factors. That unknown can make or break ones' profit and it is just as real as the tangibles. Figure it in.

I was just giving a hypothtical situation to get jumped down my throat!!! I apologize to anyone that this post may offend... but I just felt it needed to be said!!!!
